Chennaiyin FC win for the second time in four matches. Call it a new manager bounce or a will to do better. This 3-1 victory helps the Super Machans switch places with Kerala Blasters FC in the table. They go to the 8th spot. The hosts scored three in the first half and conceded only one. They played on the counter in the second half, using Lallianzuala Chhangte's pace to good effect. For all their possession, the Blasters couldn't manage to fashion enough chances on goal. In fact, the hosts were creating better scoring chances on the counter. Eventually, the Marina Machans saw out the second half with ease but Eli Sabia's second yellow could cause them problems in the next game. On the other hand, Kerala Blasters FC are still looking for a win since their opening fixture.

A long ball is played in the path of Lallianzuala Chhangte on the left. As he runs towards the box, TP Rehenesh is way off his line to deal with him. Seeing the keeper coming his way, Chhangte lobs the ball goalwards. It looks like the ball is heading into the target and Vlatko Drobarov runs after it. The ball hits the upright and Drobarov can't sort his feet out to clear. Nerijus Valskis, following up, taps the deflected ball into an empty net as Vlatko Drobarov fell to the floor.
