The drought is over
After a tactical first half, the second one began in similar fashion and both sides were cautious in their approach. The game though gathered momentum after the 50-minute mark. CK Vineeth drew first blood when Anirudh Thapa's blocked shot in the 55th minute fell kindly to Vineeth who opened the scoring. The home side's lead didn't last long as 4 minutes later Marcelo Pereira equalised. In the next minute, Marcelo was again in action as he slotted home a through ball from Marko Stankovic wide of the keeper. Chennaiyin FC did try to equalise but didn't have too many chances. The closest they came to equalising was in the 82nd minute when Gregory Nelson's blocked shot went out off the post. With this win, FC Pune City have finally won a game against Chennaiyin FC. It took them 10 games but it was a much-needed victory which keeps their hopes alive in the tournament. Chennaiyin FC's struggle continues this season as they remain at the foot of the table.

FC Pune City's fight to stay alive
