Bengaluru FC have toppled the defending champions and gained all three points. Chennaiyain FC have not started their campaign as they would have wanted but there is still a long way to go. ISL action continues tomorrow as NorthEast United FC lock horns with FC Goa in the former's den at 1930 IST. Till then, goodbye and take care!
Awards!
The Club Award goes to Bengaluru FC for winning the game. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu is the Limitless Player of the Match for his outstanding performance in goal. Xisco Hernandez gets the Winning Pass of the Match for his assist to Miku. Jerry Lalrinzuala is the Emerging Player, while Miku is awarded the Hero of the Match.
Three points to Bengaluru FC!
So the Miku goal which was scored in the first half, stands out to be the difference between the two sides. The second half was not as enthralling as the first one. Not a lot of chances in it. Miku was the closest to score with a header but his effort went just wide. For Chennaiyin FC, they did have a few shots on target in the second 45 but no clear cut chances. All their chances were created in the first half which they failed to convert. In the end, it was a deserving win for Bengaluru FC.

90'
SAVED!
Gregory Nelson gets the ball on the left, he tries to curl it with his right. There is a lot of venom on the shot but it is on the body of the keeper who pushes it out for a corner. Nothing comes from the corner as well.
90'
Added time!
4 minutes left in the game now. Chennaiyin FC are on attack here, whereas Bengaluru FC have all their men back.

Not a lot of time left!
Around 5 minutes plus added time to go now. Is there a hero in the Chennaiyin FC ranks, can they somehow find the equalizer?
80'
Free kick!
A good chance for Chennaiyin FC to equalize as they have won a free kick in a very, very dangerous position. Gregory Nelson is pulled down outside the box and the ref blows the whistle. Can they make good use of it? NO, it is high wide and a poor shot by Inigo Calderon.

Last ditch challenge!
Sunil Chhetri collects a brilliant ball from the right and he is now one-on-one with Inigo Calderon inside the box. He tries to go past him but the defender is upto the task as he kicks the ball away. Excellent defending.
69'
Just wide!
That was straight from the training ground. The corner is delivered deep, Juanan heads it towards Miku who crouches low and heads it towards goal but it goes just wide of the pole. Had that been on target the keeper would have had no chance.
65'
Blocked!
A brilliant piece of football there! Udanta who makes a run down the left, squares it towards Miku who lets it through between his legs brilliantly. Xisco Hernandez behind him, takes a shot but Anirudh Thapa puts his body on line and blocks it.
63'
Foul!
Jerry Lalrinzuala needs to be careful here, he is already on a yellow and has committed another foul. However, no card shown this time but the free kick is in a promising area. Just outside the box on the right but the delivery has been cleared away.
59'
Substitution!
Isaac Vanmalsawma has come off now and Anirudh Thapa comes on for him.

Yellow Card
Yellow Card - Chennaiyin FC : Jerry Lalrinzuala
57'
Yellow card!
Jerry Lalrinzuala can consider himself lucky there, that could have also been a red. Udanta Singh shows great burst of pace there as he tries to get to the ball before the defender. He also does as he taps it ahead but Jerry puts in a sliding tackle to bring him down. Had he not done that, it would have been a one-on-one with the keeper. The Bengaluru FC team want the red card to be shown but yellow it is.
49'
On target!
The free kick from the right delivered into the box is punched away. However, the punch had more height than distance. Inigo Calderon heads it back towards goal. Mailson Alves chests it down and with his back to goal tries to backheel it but hits it straight to the keeper.
46'
Second half!
The ref blows the whistle and we are underway. It is Chennaiyin FC who pass the ball backwards and now look to move ahead.
Half Time!
The ref blows the whistle and the players head into the tunnel after the first 45. Advantage Bengaluru FC but it was Chennaiyin FC who dominated the half. They started off as the brighter side but missed all the opportunities they got. Jeje Lalpekhlua scuffed a shot wide where he should have passed to his teammate. That was probably the away side's best chance. A few minutes before that Raphael Augusto missed an open header. However, despite all of this they were still dominating but out of nothing, Bengaluru FC scored. Their first real chance, which fell to Miku and he made the opposition pay. There are still another 45 minutes to go though and Chennaiyin FC will just have to continue playing the same way they did but this time take their chances. Bengaluru FC on the other hand will look to score another and then defend their lead. Join us in a while.
45'
Added time!
Two minutes of extra time have been added to the first half. So 120 seconds are what Chennaiyin FC have to go level into the break.
41'
GOALLL!
Chennaiyin FC have been made to pay for their missed chances as Bengaluru FC have taken the lead. It is Miku who blasts it into the net, leaving no chance for the keeper. Xisco Hernandez puts in a delightful through ball for him. Miku lines it up and smashes it past the keeper to give Bengaluru FC the advantage.

FOUL!
A free kick in a promising area for Chennaiyin FC. Raphael Augusto was one on one with Rahul Bheke on the left hand side. He taps it past him but before he could get to the ball he was brought down by the latter. A good chance to put in a good ball.
36'
Saved!
Germanpreet Singh lashes a fierce shot with his left leg from outside the box but it's straight towards the keeper who punches it away.

Another chance!
A blunder from Rahul Bheke but luckily he does not have to pay for it. He tries to pass it to the goal keeper but passes it straight to Jeje Lalpekhlua who rounds the keeper but then loses his balance and fails to keep the ball in play. Another chance goes abegging. Their coach is not a happy man.
25'
Chennaiyin FC the better side!
Chennaiyin FC has been the brighter of the two in the first quarter of an hour. They should have been at least a goal up but it is even-stevens at this stage.
19'
Golden opportunity!
Not sure how Chennaiyin FC are not in the lead! Poor by Jeje Lalpekhlua. He was set through on goal by Gregory Nelson. He had Germanpreet Singh on his right and only the keeper in front of him. Not sure if he tried to chip it over or pass to Singh but he completely scuffs it. Germanpreet tried his best to get to the ball but could only get his toe to it and it goes out for a goal kick.
16'
Free header!
Gregory Nelson whips in a brilliant delivery! He finds Raphael Augusto who is unmarked but he fails to direct his header on goal. Should have hit the target from there, he knows that and is disappointed with his effort.
16'
First corner!
The winger on the right tries to beat the defender but he gets in a tackle and it goes out for a corner.
10'
Good move!
Chennaiyin FC break on the counter and Inigo Calderon makes a run down the right. He delivers in a good cross but it is headed away from Erik Paartalu.
6'
OUCH!
Raphael Augusto is down on the ground. He was the one to put in a risky challenge on Juanan but has come out the worse. Seems to be in some pain as the physio makes his way out. However, he is now fine and ready to come back onto the pitch.
3'
First shot!
A throw-in almost produces a goal! Rahul Bheke throws it into the box. Erik Paartalu tries to help it on its way but it hits the defender and comes back to him. He takes a shot but it is too close to the keeper, Karanjit Singh, who saves, not cleanly though. The ball is cleared away but only as far as Nishu Kumar who takes a shot from outside the box but it is a tame effort.
1'
We get underway!
The ref blows the whistle and Bengaluru FC get us underway.
TOSS
Up goes the coin and it lands in favor of Chennaiyin FC. They will be attacking from right to left in this half.
National anthem!
The players walk out of the tunnel for the Indian national anthem. We are now moments away from kick off.
Chennaiyin FC - Starting XI
Karanjit Singh (GK), Eli Sabia, Inigo Calderon, Jerry Lalrinzuala, Mailson Alves (C), Francisco Fernandes, Germanpreet Singh, Isaac Vanmalsawma, Gregory Nelson, Raphael Augusto, Jeje Lalpekhlua.
Bengaluru FC scored a mammoth 21 goals in the last 30 minutes of matches, more than any other side in ISL 2017-18. While for Chennaiyin too, they scored 18 goals in the last 30 minutes of matches, only Bengaluru FC (21) scored more than them. The attacking burden of Bengaluru FC will once again lie on the shoulders of their front three - Miku, Chhetri & Udanta. They scored majority of their goals last season and the fans will hope they replicate that. For the Machans, they didn't score as many goals as the others in the top 4 did but had variety in goal-scoring. Their 11 players who got on the score sheet were the most, compared to any other side. Should be a good encounter as both will look to brag at the end of the derby and take all 3 points.
Champions and runners up face again
We have an early South Indian Derby! A battle which is not only played on the field but also off it. Their fans are one of the best in the league and they take banter to the next level. When the last time these sides met at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in the league
stages, Jeje Lalpekhlua scored as early as the 5th minute. But, it wasn’t till the 85th minute that Bengaluru had a response with Chhetri scoring. Dhanpal Ganesh then scored in the 88th minute to give all three points to Chennaiyin. This game though will mostly
be played on tactics. Both their managers rely on set-pieces to gain advantages. Last year, the Super Machans had more than 50% of their goals from the dead-ball. Carles Cuadrat of Bengaluru FC was known for his brilliant set-piece routines under Albert Roca and it
will be interesting to see how he takes charge this year. You cannot afford to miss any of this action. Get in and follow all the live
updates before the match begins at 1930 IST.
