Juan Mata squeezed home an 87th-minute winner as Chelsea beat already-crowned champion Manchester United 1-0 to boost their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.

Robin van Persie came close o scoring for Manchester United.

Man United defender Rafael Da Silva was handed a straight red card in the final minute for a foul on David Luiz, capping a forgettable display by the new champions.

Everton remain on course to finish above Liverpool for the second season in a row after holding their city rivals to a 0-0 draw in a scrappy Merseyside derby at Anfield on Sunday.

The draw left Everton somewhat marooned in sixth place in the table, five points above their neighbours and five points below the European qualifying positions with two games to play.
