Kolkata Knight Riders' Eden Celebration Spoiled by Lathicharge
Ugly scenes were witnessed at the Eden Gardens where thousands of Kolkata Knight Riders supporters flocked to felicitate the team for its Indian Premier League 2014 triumph. The police resorted to lathicharge, injuring men and women. Several people were injured and a few young women were seen fleeing the venue in tears. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her regret for not being able to accommodate everyone at the Eden Gardens and added that events of such magnitude would be held at the Brigade grounds from the next time.
