Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe today lauded Anil Kumble's captaincy, calling it one of the reasons for RCB's success in the Indian Premier League.
"Kumble is a great team leader and manager. He brings with him 20 years of experience and the team is doing really well under his captaincy. He understands the team very well and everything is working well at the moment," said the South African on the eve of his team's match against Kings XI Punjab on Friday.
Talking about strategy for tomorrow, van der Merwe said, "We are performing really well at the moment and we also want to carry on this momentum in the upcoming games."
"Our top-order is performing very well in this season. It is a good sign for us. Top five batsmen who are scoring good runs always put us in comfortable position in the game.
"We will stick to our set game-plan. Our strategy is to win the game against Kings XI Punjab and we will follow it," he said.
Talking about in-form South African Jacques Kallis, who remains RCB's batting mainstay, van der Merwe said, "Kallis is the best T20 batsman in the world. He sticks to his basics and is performing really well in this edition of IPL."
