Earlier in the day, after electing to bat, knocks from Alex Carey, Aaron Finch and Travis Head took Australia to a strong total. A total which we felt was above par. However, a sublime innings from Nissanka and another excellent innings from Mendis helped Sri Lanka take a lead in the series.

!
The Australian bowlers just were not upto the mark! Their inexperience showed. Saying that, Josh Hazlewood too was not at his best. They just could not stem the run flow and there was never enough pressure built. Not only that, but the wicket also eased out quite a lot and there was not the same assistance as in the first innings. Still though, Australia would be disappointed as they would have backed themselves to defend this total.

!
What a chase! What an outstanding chase from Sri Lanka! They have actually got to the target quite easily. Two outstanding knocks from Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis was the highlight. The two added over 150 to help their side take total control of the game. The heat got to Mendis as he walked back retired hurt but Nissanka continued. He scored a brilliant ton and took his side to the brink of victory. It seemed like there would be some drama at the end when Nissanka and Shanaka fell but Charith Asalanka stayed calm and took his side over the line.
