---|---|---|---|---|---|
Rohit Sharma | 57 | 70 | 3 | 1 | 81.42 |
c Alex Carey b Nathan Coulter-Nile
22.3 OUT! Finally Australia have a breakthrough! Nathan Coulter-Nile has provided Finch with the big, big scalp of Rohit Sharma. Back of a length ball on off, Sharma looks to cut but the ball rises onto him. He gets a feather on it and the ball goes to the right of Carey. He takes a simple catch and they put in a compulsory appeal and the umpire raises his finger. A big opening stand of 127 comes to an end. Coulter-Nile has not had the best of days so far with the ball but maybe this could be the turning point. The bowling change has finally worked for Australia. One can say it has come against the run of play but the Aussies are not complaining. 127/1

Shikhar Dhawan | 117 | 109 | 16 | 0 | 107.33 |
c sub b Mitchell Starc
37 OUT! Dhawan holes out! End of a brilliant knock. He walks out to a standing ovation from the crowd. Starc bowls it full on the pads, Dhawan looks to flick it over square leg. He does not time it well so he gets a lot of height on it but not the distance. Nathan Lyon, the substitute fielder at deep square leg takes an easy catch. Dhawan has to depart, he has played a brilliant knock here. He raises his bat and soaks in all the applause he is getting from the crowd as he walks back. Probably not a bad thing for India. Australia might be braced for some 'kung-fu' hustle. 220/2

Virat Kohli C | 82 | 77 | 4 | 2 | 106.49 |
c Pat Cummins b Marcus Stoinis
49.5 OUT! Second wicket in the final over for Stoinis. Kohli cannot see off the innings. Back of a length ball on off, Kohli looks to clear the man at sweeper cover as he walks down the track but he does not time it well and the ball goes straight to Pat Cummins in the deep. He takes a simple catch. End of another good innings from the Indian skipper. 348/5
|
|||||
Hardik Pandya | 48 | 27 | 4 | 3 | 177.77 |
c Aaron Finch b Pat Cummins
45.5 OUT! No fifty for Pandya but an excellent cameo from him comes to an end. Made use of the life he got brilliantly. Cummins bowls a low full toss. Not always easy to get those away. Pandya looks to go over mid off but it goes off the toe-end. Finch there completes an easy catch. Australia will be relieved to see the back of Pandya as they were just not sure where to bowl to him. Could easily make a difference of 10 runs to the final total. 301/3

|||||
MS Dhoni Wk | 27 | 14 | 3 | 1 | 192.85 |
c & b Marcus Stoinis
49.1 OUT! Brilliant catch from Stoinis. The idea to bowl wide outside off to Dhoni has worked. He bowls a low full toss outside off, on which he rolls his finger. Dhoni looks to hit it straight but it does not come off the middle of his bat. It comes off the lower half of his bat. It goes to the right of Stoinis. He puts his right arm out and takes an excellent one-handed catch. 338/4

David Warner | 56 | 84 | 5 | 0 | 66.66 |
c Bhuvneshwar Kumar b Yuzvendra Chahal
24.4 OUT! Caught! Warner's torturous innings comes to an end. He was never looking comfortable in his 84-ball stay and has eventually been relieved off the pain. Tossed up, around middle and leg, Warner comes down the track and looks to flick it over the leg side. The connection is decent but the power is not enough to take the ball beyond the boundary. Easy catch for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. That will hurt Australia's chances as per the DLS method. 133/2

Aaron Finch C | 36 | 35 | 3 | 1 | 102.85 |
run out (Kedar Jadhav)
13.1 OUT! India have their first wicket. Miscommunication gets the better of Australia. Outside off, Warner punches it through the covers and sets off for two straightaway. Finch takes the first but then while turning for the second, he sees that Kedar Jadhav has the ball in his hand at sweeper. He stops. But Warner is like a runaway train who cannot change direction. He called for two and wanted them. The problem is, he did not even look at Finch while going for the second. Finch had no option than to go now. The throw comes to Hardik who disturbs the bails and hurts himself. Finch angrily looks back at Warner and strides off, even as the umpire refers it upstairs. The third umpire needs just one look to give his decision. Finch is furious and perhaps smashes the window pane of the Aussie dressing room. Calm, calm, calm... 61/1

Steven Smith | 69 | 70 | 5 | 1 | 98.57 |
lbw b Bhuvneshwar Kumar
39.4 OUT! Plumb LBW! Hard to see how the umpire missed this one. Probably Ian Gould felt that Smith hit it. A length ball, outside off, cutting back in, Smith, with a huge bat lift, looks to work it to the leg side but misses and is hit on the pads. Bhuvi appeals but umpire Gould shakes his head. Dhoni urges Kohli to go for the review and Kohli does so. Hawk Eye shows the ball to be hitting the leg stump. Gritty knock from Smith ends. 238/4
|
|||||
Usman Khawaja | 42 | 39 | 4 | 1 | 107.69 |
b Jasprit Bumrah
36.4 OUT! BOWLED! Khawaja departs, trying to be innovative. A length ball, around off, Usman gets across and looks to paddle. But he is not even close to the pitch of the ball and it cannons off the inside edge, onto the stumps. A decent knock from Khawaja. 202/3
|
|||||
Glenn Maxwell | 28 | 14 | 5 | 0 | 200 |
c sub b Yuzvendra Chahal
40.4 OUT! Maxwell falls and that probably is now the confirmation that Australia truly and surely do not have any more chance in this game. Tossed up bravely outside off, Maxwell looks to play the slog sweep but only top edges it high in the air. Ravindra Jadeja, the substitute for Shikhar Dhawan, comes running in from deep mid-wicket and takes a decent catch. End of Maxwell's cameo and Australia might just realistically think of losing by a massive margin. 244/6
|
|||||
Marcus Stoinis | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
b Bhuvneshwar Kumar
40 OUT! BOWLED! Bhuvneshwar has two in the over and Australia are back in the rubble once more. A length ball outside off, Stoinis lazily looks to run it down towards third man but the bat comes down months late. The ball jags back in, hits the pads and pegs the off stump back! A duck for Stoinis and India probably have more than one-and-a-half foot on the victory path. 238/5

Nathan Coulter-Nile | 4 | 9 | 0 | 0 | 44.44 |
c Virat Kohli b Jasprit Bumrah
44.5 OUT! Coulter-Nile departs. Not his day at all. Kept swinging, slashing but not connecting. Finally got a slower ball that he could connect. But sadly for him, he found Virat Kohli to perfection at deep mid-wicket. Kohli is pumped up after that catch. India edging closer to a massive win. 283/7
|
|||||
Pat Cummins | 8 | 7 | 1 | 0 | 114.28 |
c MS Dhoni b Jasprit Bumrah
47 OUT! Caught behind. Cummins goes as well. Another slower ball, outside off, on a length, Cummins swings early but only gets a thick outside edge. Dhoni dives forward and takes it nicely. 300/8
|
|||||
Mitchell Starc | 3 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 100 |
run out (sub)
49.1 OUT! Replays confirm that Starc is way short! This is jammed out towards deep cover. They take one. Carey wants the strike so he goes for a second which was not on. Shankar picks the ball up and fires it to the bowler who deflects it onto the stumps. An appeal and the umpire takes it upstairs. Replays roll in and they show Starc has to take the long walk back. 313/9
|
|||||
Adam Zampa | 1 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 33.33 |
c sub b Bhuvneshwar Kumar
50 OUT! In the air... taken! Three-fer for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. It is the slower one on off, Zampa looks to loft it over mid off but does not get the timing right. An easy catch for Jadeja, the substitute. AUSTRALIA HAVE BEEN BOWLED OUT FOR 316! INDIA WIN THE MATCH BY 36 RUNS! 316/10
