Hailing from Bloemfontein which gave Allan Donald to the world of cricket, Duanne Olivier is a tall fast bowler known for his pace and swing. Being the leading wicket-taker in the 2016-17 domestic FC cricket competition with 52 wickets, he earned a national call and made his Test debut in January 2017 against Sri Lanka.
His high point came when he scalped 24 wickets in a 3-match Test series against Pakistan - the second-most by a South African pacer - and was named as the Player of the Series. He also represented South Africa in a couple of ODIs but with the likes of Dale Steyn, Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada around, Olivier failed to cement his place in the team. Eventually, the speedster opted to play for the English county through the Kolpak deal.
