His father introduced him to cricket aged seven where he was captain of the community team in Portsmouth, Portmore. Wavell’s job was to carry the team’s bags and mark the score book.
Led his club side Kensington to the Supreme Ventures Super Cup in 2004 and was awarded the captaincy of Jamaica in 2005.
Dominated the Pakistan bowlers in the 2nd Test at Barbados in May 2000, hitting 165 in the first innings and 52 in the second.
