Anaru Kitchen made his debut for Auckland halfway through the 2008-09 season. He came on and made an instant impact with the bat as he scored three centuries in fives games and averaged more than 50. His first innings score of 115 in the State Championship 2008-09 final, helped his team clinch the trophy. The following season, Kitchen did not start off as promisingly but found form in the Domestic T20 Championship. He is an attacking middle-order batsman and occasionally bowls slow left-arm spin.
