A product of the Bangladesh Academy, Jahurul Islam debuted in the first-class arena in the 2002-03 season. The right-handed batsman and wicketkeeper has been an asset to his first-class team, the Rajshahi Division. He contributed extensively with the bat, scoring 965 runs at a staggering average of 68.92 in the National Cricket League and helped his team to clinch the 2009-10 title.
An international call-up followed and subsequently, Jahurul made his Test debut in 2010 against England. It wasn't the kind of start he would've wanted, as the right-hander was dismissed on a duck. However, he notched up a composed 43 in the second innings. Jahurul was included in the T20I side ahead of the 2012 World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka.
