Gary Brent is a Zimbabwean international who bats and bowls right handed. He bowls at a medium pace, and generally bowls the in swingers, with the change up delivery being the out swinger. He has this tendency of letting the ball float in the air such as to make shot making a little difficult for the batsmen. Brent made his Test debut as a 20-year old in the year 1996-97 on a Pakistan tour, and with no real performances to back him, had to wait another three years before earning a regular slot in Zimbabwe's one-day team. His bowling has been modest with a useful inswinger, but it is the slower ball that defies a lot of batsmen. His batting is nothing to write home about, but sometimes, he has been involved in some useful partnerships in the bottom order. He did not play in the 2003 World Cup and could not do too well in the following Natwest Trophy. However, in the 2003-04 tri series with Australia and India, he was one of the bowlers who did play. Brent was then dismissed from the Zimbabwean squad following a pay dispute which seemed to have ended his international cricket career but he received a surprising recall during the Champions Trophy in India in 2006-07.
