Malinga Bandara Profile

Malinga Bandara is a right-arm leg-spin bowler with great caliber. Even though he was marked as a leg-spinner of immense potential, he has under-performed on numerous occasions. A great performance at the Under-19 level and on Sri Lanka A tours helped him earn a Test debut in 1998-99. However, Bandara failed to keep his place into the side after a disappointing display.

Bandara's consistent persistence at the domestic level earned him a recall to the national side in 2006. However, he has provided Muttiah Muralidaran with valuable support in the shorter format of the game. He is a useful lower order batsman and it is this all-round adaptability that earned him a World Cup place in 2007. But, he failed to nail a permanent place in the Lankan side. He was then included in the T20I squad for the 2011 series against Australia.
