Sher Malla

Sher Malla was born on December 1, 2002, in the town of Dhangadhi within the Sudurpaschim province of Nepal. Growing up in a region known for producing tough, resilient cricketers, Malla developed his game as a dedicated all-rounder. Batting left-handed and bowling right-arm off-spin, he quickly caught the attention of local coaches with his calm temperament, economical bowling, and athletic fielding.

Malla progressed steadily through the domestic age-group ranks, representing Nepal at the Under-19 level. During the Under-19 Challenger Trophy in India, he proved his mettle against top youth talents by dismissing future international batters. His classical off-spin, characterized by a high arm release, subtle drift, and sharp turn into right-handed batters, made him a dependable option in restrictive domestic conditions.

His franchise journey began in late 2024 when he was signed by Janakpur Bolts for the inaugural edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). Being part of a title-winning squad provided the young all-rounder with invaluable experience alongside seasoned international professionals. Although his appearances were limited in that first season, the high-performance environment shaped his approach for the breakthrough that soon followed.

Before the 2025 Nepal Premier League season, Lumbini Lions secured Malla for a substantial fee of ten lakh Nepali rupees (NPR 1,000,000) during the NPL player auction. It proved to be an inspired decision. Malla produced one of the greatest individual campaigns in tournament history, capturing 17 wickets in 10 matches at an extraordinary bowling average under 14. He delivered clutch three-wicket spells in both the Eliminator and the final against Sudurpaschim Royals, carrying Lumbini Lions to the 2025 NPL championship title.

For his heroics, Malla was named the Emerging Player of the Tournament and finished as the joint-leading wicket-taker alongside Sandeep Lamichhane. Beyond his wickets, his composure under pressure and vital lower-order runs proved his credentials as a genuine match winner, turning him into an instant national sensation across the country.

That sensational domestic showing earned Malla his maiden call-up to Nepal's senior international squad in early 2026. He made his senior T20I debut against Hong Kong during the multi-nation white-ball series in early 2026, delivering an economical four-over spell. Retained by Lumbini Lions as a cornerstone of their bowling attack for the 2026 season, Malla remains one of Nepal's most exciting young spin-bowling prospects on the international stage who was also picked in the Asian Games 2026 squad of Nepal.
