Pakistan's T20I captain Shaheen Afridi picked teammate Babar Azam's coverdrive over India icon Virat Kohli's. Kohli and Babar are two of the finest batters of their generations and their cover drive is widely admired in the cricket fraternity. In a viral video, former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik quizzed Shaheen and veteran pacer Mohammad Amir to pick between Kohli and Babar, as far as their cover drives are concerned. Amir, who has often hailed Kohli as his favourite, went for the India icon, while Shaheen decided to stay loyal to his teammate, picking Babar's cover drive as the best.
Amir, however, was shocked to hear Shaheen's answer, with his reaction going viral on social media.
The duo was also asked about whether they would want to play under the captaincy of Kohli or Babar and Amir was quick to reply that he would like to be captained by the Indian cricket team star.
The video of the whole interaction was initially shared by ILT20 League franchise, Desert Vipers.
Amir and Shaheen played a few matches together for the franchise, before returning to Pakistan earlier this month for the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
While Shaheen is the captain of Lahore Qalandars, having led them to back-to-back titles in the past two seasons, Amir is part of the Quetta Gladiators.
However, Lahore Qalandars have lost all of their first three games thus far. They narrowly lost to Multan Sultans on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Amir recently spoke about the speculations of his comeback to international cricket.
"Honestly, straightforward for me this debate is closed. No chance for now. Nobody is certain about life but for me this (a chance of an international comeback) is no more a question. I am out of the international circuit for the past three years and I don't think I will be making a comeback," said Amir while replying to a query from NDTV during a media interaction.
Meanwhile, Kohli recently announced that he and his actress wife Anushka Sharma were blessed with a baby boy on February 15.
Kohli and Anushka are already proud parents of a three-year-old daughter Vamika. With their first newborn, the likes of Virat and Anushka decided against sharing her pictures on social media, and haven't even made her make a public appearance yet.
With Akaay, the strategy for Virat and Anushka is likely to be the same, with the parents determined to protect their children's identity on social media platforms.
