IPL: Gujarat Lions beat Kolkata Knight Riders, Go On Top
Dinesh Karthik's half-century and an outstanding spell of bowling from Praveen Kumar guided Gujarat Lions to their seventh win in 11 matches.

It was raining before the match, giving the spectators a scare of a washout.

Gujarat Lions skipper Suresh Raina won the toss and sent Kolkata Knight Riders in to bat.

KKR got off to a poor start with skipper Gautam Gambhir being bowled.

Praveen Kumar bowled a brilliant spell to have KKR tottering at 24/4.

However, Yusuf Pathan revived the KKR innings with an unbeaten 63.

Pathan was given good support from the other end by Shakib Al Hasan, who hit 66 not out. The two scored an unbeaten partnership of 134 to guide KKR to 158/4.

In reply, Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum gave a good start to Gujarat Lions.

Though GL lost a couple of wickets, Dinesh Karthik struck an important half-century to guide his team home.

Karthik was well supported by Aaron Finch, who was eventually run out.

Gujarat Lions eventually cruised home with Ravindra Jadeja hitting the winning six!
