Zimbabwe bowlers struck at regular intervals and didn't even go for many runs. Chamu Chibhabha (in photo) gave away only one boundary in his spell and finished with the figures of 4-0-19-0.
Skipper MS Dhoni didn't last long and became one of the three victims of Donald Tiripano.
Kedar Jadhav then rescued India's innings and scored his maiden T20I fifty, as the visitors posted a competitive total of 138/6.
Axar Patel complemented Jadhav well and played a quickfire cameo towards the end of the innings.
In reply, Zimbabwe got off to a bad start as Chamu Chibhabha lost his wicket in the third over courtesy some brilliant bowling from Barinder Sran (R).
When both Hamilton Masakadza and Vusi Sibanda were looking dangerous, Dhoni turned to Axar and the slow left-armer got rid of Masakadza to give India a much-needed breakthrough.
Peter Moor, who was Zimbabwe's top-scorer in the last match, continued his good form as he scored 26 off 21 balls with three huge sixes off Yuzvendra Chahal.
But when Chahal removed Moor and Dhawal Kulkarni got the wicket of Malcolm Waller, the situation became a lot difficult for Zimbabwe and Jasprit Bumrah's brilliant penultimate over then brought the equation down to 21 off last six balls.
Sran, after getting hit for 11 runs off the first two balls, held his nerve on the last four balls and helped India clinch the three-match series 2-1.
Jadhav was named the Man of the Match while Sran, who took six wickets in two matches, was named Man of the Series.
