That's all from this game but we have another game coming up on this Super Saturday! It is New Zealand facing Sri Lanka. Do join us that game at 1900 Local (1100 GMT). Until then, cheers.
Stafanie Taylor, the West Indies skipper, says that she is really happy with her performance and her team's performance. Says that she is really happy with the team and tells that its nice to have everyone back in the side. On the bowling, Taylor says that Connell has been working really hard with Courtney Walsh and that was evident in her bowling. Feels that they played quite a few dot balls and they would look to sort it out and rotate strike. Ends by saying that they could've had done better against the Thai side.
Sornnarin Tippoch, the Thailand skipper, says that she is happy with her performance. Tells that they needed to get around 120. Adds that they need to keep improving in all the areas. States that they need to work on their off side game. Finishes by saying that their bowling is their strength. Feels that their bowling and fielding was excellent in this game. Finishes by saying that they were waiting for the day and is proud of her team.
STAFANIE TAYLOR IS THE MAN OF THE MATCH. She starts by saying that the bowlers bowled really well and it was her batting which was an issue. She felt that she needed to stick it out in the middle. Adds that they needed to take their time out and credits the bowling. On her not bowling full quota of bowling, Taylor says that she keeps telling her coaches that give her less bowlers in the side so she does not feel like giving the ball to everyone.
Earlier in the game, after being asked to bowl first, West Indies scuffed Thailand and did not give them easy runs at all. The Thai team could only manage 78 runs, that too after the effort from Koncharoenkai who scored 33 of the total. Skipper Taylor led from the front with a 3-fer. Other bowlers chipped in with wickets at regular intervals and kept things tight. Stay with us for the presentation.
Defending a small total, the Thai bowlers did exceptional work, provided this was their first-ever outing in a World Cup game. Boochatham, Sutthiruang and Laomi were very economical in their spells but failed to pick wickets. Lateh was the one who got the wicket apart from two run outs that came with fielding brilliance from Laomi and Chaiwai. Eventually, the total was a little too less to defend and Thailand ended up on a losing side.
The run chase didn't start well for West Indies as they failed to rotate strike early on. Thailand bowled tight lines and didn't allow them to score freely. A couple of runs outs thumped the run chase but skipper Taylor and Campbelle made sure they open their account on the points table.
An easy victory in the end for West Indies. They would've had some nerves when Thailand picked a couple of wickets quickly but the experienced duo of Stafanie Taylor and Shemaine Campbelle took the Windies home with an unbeaten 50-run stand.
