So, everything is to play for in the final game. That concludes this game. The third and final ODI of this tour between these two will be played on the 12th of this month at 1.30 pm GMT. As usual, you can join us earlier for the build up. Till then, cheers!
Shai Hope, the captain of West Indies says they try to get better every game. Mentions Roston Chase has showcased his skills in Test cricket and is doing the job in white-ball cricket. Tells it is a tough surface to bat on, tricky but is happy to see the players adapt to the conditions. Credits Sherfane Rutherford's innings and also the partnership between Roston Chase and Justin Greaves.
Mohammad Rizwan, the skipper of Pakistan says they could have scored around 200 but the pitch was difficult. Mentions Sherfane Rutherford changed the momentum of the game. Tells Saim Ayub and Salman Agha have bowled well before today. Reckons he wasn't able to understand the forecast today and hopes it is better during the final game.
Roston Chase, MAN OF THE MATCH for his all-around performance. He says he is pleased to help his team level the series and keep the game alive. Tells Mohammad Nawaz bowled well as he got it to turn, so his game plan was to target the other bowlers. Shares he just told Justin Greaves to take his time. Mentions his job with the ball is to keep it tight.
...Presentation...
Pakistan had to be extra tough on the field as they failed with the bat in the first innings. Their start was superb and the spinners controlled the middle phase brilliantly as well but the part-timers, Saim Ayub and Salman Agha, leaked runs, allowing West Indies to ease off a bit and take control of the proceedings. Pakistan would have hoped for more runs, though. However, with rain interupting regularly in the first innings, Pakistan found it difficult to build stand under difficult circumstances as West Indies were right on the money, their pacers actually throughout the innings and they deserve a lot of credit for this win.
Chasing such a score was always going to be difficult for West Indies and their process wasn't helped by the loss of both openers in the first four wickets. West Indies went into a shell after that, looking to build a stand. Keacy Carty tried but failed. Hope hung in there, along with Sherfane Rutherford, who played a momentum-changing innings in the middle to get West Indies back on track. Both of them fell in a crucial stage and West Indies again had to do it all over again but Roston Chase, with all his experience, made sure that his team crossed the line.
Roston Chase has helped West Indies chase down a competitive score on a tricky pitch. West Indies keep the series alive with that. West Indies had to fight not just Pakistan but the rain gods as well. After bowling so well, they needed the rain gods to stay away and give themselves a chance, eventually grabbing it with both hands and crossing the line.
