So that's it from us for this game. India have opened their account against West Indies and are currently leading the 5-match ODI series 1-0. They will now head to Antigua for their second game were the hosts will try to put in a strong performance unlike this game. The 3rd ODI begins on 30th June at 0900 local (1300 GMT). Join us for it. Until then, goodbye and take care!
Man of the Match, Ajinkya Rahane says that he is really happy with the way he batted. Mentions that he was hungry for runs as he did not get an opportunity in the Champions Trophy. Informs that he enjoys batting with Shikhar Dhawan as they compliment each other really well. Reckons that they only tried to play normal cricket initially which worked well for them.
Virat Kohli says it was a complete performance from them. Admits the partnership between Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan was very good. Adds Bhavneshwar Kumar was really good with the new ball and also credits Kuldeep Yadav for the way he bowled. Mentions that he would prefer scoring runs for his team rather than thinking about personal accolades. Says they will regroup and think about the changes which can be made in the upcoming games. Appreciates Ajinkya for his mental strength and the character he possesses. Ends by saying that this has been a good start to the series.
West Indies skipper, Jason Holder says that they did not bowl well. Reckons that the momentum never went their way. Credits Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan for the way they batted. Mentions that they might look in their squad to make some changes in the next game. Informs that not everything is lost by now and they will hope to put a better performance in Antigua. Applauds Shai Hope for his brilliant knock and also acknowledges the performance of Roston Chase.
While the chase, they never looked comfortable in the middle. They were jolted quite early with twin blows from Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Shai Hope and Evin Lewis gave some fight but that would have never been enough to chase such a daunting total down. The former scored a half century which was the only highlight for them throughout the game. The Men in Blue kept bowling tight lines and hardly gave anything away cheaply. Kuldeep Yadav bowled exceptionally well and he bagged three wickets in the process to complete their biggest win against West Indies, in West Indies.
An enthralling victory for India and they have totally outplayed their opponent in all the three departments. Apart from winning the toss, the hosts hardly did anything right. They inserted India into batting first and the visitors responded in some style. They posted a total over the 300-run mark banking on some fantastic batting performances by their top-order. Dhawan, Kohli and Rahane were ruthless and hardly faced any problems against the West Indian bowling attack.
