Right then, that's it from this warm-up game where West Indies convincingly defeated Australia after posting a mammoth total. The preparations for the main league stage of the T20 World Cup further continue as the teams test out their strengths in the warm-up fixtures. You can switch tabs to keep an eye on the other warm-up games coming up next. Until then, cheers, and take care!
Earlier in the game, West Indies got the chance to bat first, and they didn't waste a moment! It turned into a six-hitting extravaganza. After being invited to bat, they got off to a flying start. Johnson Charles set the pace early on, and Nicholas Pooran quickly followed suit. Charles set the foundation before letting Pooran take charge, who went on to dominate the Australian bowlers with an impressive 75. After Pooran's dismissal, Rovman Powell stepped up to maintain the momentum and smashed a quickfire 52. Sherfane Rutherford then delivered a spectacular 47 off just 18 balls, ensuring West Indies reached an imposing total of 257. Adam Zampa picked up two wickets but was also taken to the cleaners, while Nathan Ellis finished his spell nicely. In the chase, Australia fought hard with limited resources at the helm. Josh Inglis and Tim David played crucial hands along with Matthew Wade but ultimately the Aussies fell short of the target in the end.
While defending a mammoth total, West Indies got an early breakthrough as Shamar Joseph outfoxed Warner with his pace. Alzarri Joseph dismissed Mitchell Marsh a couple of overs later, providing West Indies with an early advantage. Obed McCoy then removed Agar, who was looking dangerous. West Indies managed to pick up three wickets inside the mandatory Powerplay, but runs also came in thick and fast. The Windies bowlers managed to prevent boundaries during the middle phase, which paid off well. Gudakesh Motie broke the flourishing partnership by dismissing both Josh Inglis and Tim David at crucial intervals. Despite being expensive, Akeal Hosein managed to pick up one wicket, while Alzarri Joseph took two, putting the hosts firmly in control. Shamar Joseph also chipped in with a wicket of his own.
A total of 479 runs were scored in this warm-up fixture but ultimately West Indies had enough runs on the board and managed to defeat Australia by a convincing margin of 35 runs. With only 9 players at the helm and a long tail to follow, Australia was invited to chase down 258. David Warner didn't get off to a promising start and lost his wicket early. Ashton Agar joined him at the crease and was a surprise package, hitting some lusty blows before eventually perishing on 28. Mitchell Marsh couldn't contribute much and got out cheaply as well. Josh Inglis and Tim David then took charge and played aggressively. Both got off to blistering starts, effortlessly bludgeoning the ball and picking the bones out of the leather. They put up a good fight against the Windies bowlers and kept the runs coming. After a solid 63-run partnership, Tim David got out. Matthew Wade hung around for a few overs but got out soon after. Then, Josh Inglis, who was looking set, followed him back to the dugout. Nathan Ellis then showcased his strength with an impressive blistering cameo, making a strong case for himself in the backend with the bat, but it just wasn't enough to get across the line. Despite batting with limited resources, Australia fought till the end, putting up a good fight.

FOUR! Too harsh to call that a dropped catch! Back of a length, around leg, Nathan Ellis gets inside the line of the ball for the scoop shot. Gets it off the toe-end of the bat and it goes low to the left of the keeper, Nicholas Pooran who dives to that side. The ball brushes his left glove and it races away for a boundary.
Halt! This is the fourth change of ball in this game! The on-field umpires select the new ball from the briefcase and we are good to continue.

FOUR! Straight as an arrow! McCoy goes full and straight, at the stumps, Nathan Ellis puts the dancing shoes on and presents a straight bat. Lifts it nicely and gets it well over the bowler's head for a boundary. Looking at the competition amongst the seamers for a place in the playing XI, Ellis is making a strong case for himself through his batting display.
