That brings us to the close of a one-sided affair. The visitors lacked in preparation and faltered in conditions where the ball was moving sideways. Their youngsters need to learn how to be patient and construct an innings. A lot of soul searching to do for them. On the other hand, the Kiwis have started off their home season with supreme confidence. Good all-round show was on display and they will be eager to carry that forward in the limited overs contest as well. Let us hope that the Windies play to their potential and put up a better fight. Join us for the 1st ODI from Whangarei on 20th December at 1100 local (2200 GMT, previous day). Till then, cheers!
New Zealand skipper, Kane Williamson says that they put together two strong performances on the board. Credits his players for the way they executed their plans. Feels that a target of 440-odd on the board was good enough as the wicket was getting variable. Reckons that both the teams fought hard. Adds there was little movement in the air and off the pitch. Feels that they are fortunate to be on the right side. Is happy that they are back in home conditions and doing well. Praises Taylor and says that it is a special moment for him as he equaled Martin Crowe's record of 17 Test tons. Opines that his century was very important in the context of the game.
Windies skipper, Kraigg Brathwaite congratulates New Zealand. Mentions they need to improve a lot as a side. Feels that his bowlers did a brilliant job. Adds that Roach was struggling a bit but everyone stood up. States that he enjoyed his first stint as a captain. Ends by saying that it is a tough loss and going forward they will want to rectify their mistakes.
Man of the Match, Ross Taylor says that the focus was on winning the game and he is happy with the team's performance. Adds that he feels sorry for Williamson as the skipper scored his tons (17) much quicker as compared to him. Mentions that he took confidence from his strokeplay in Wellington. Adds that he built upon that and it came out well. States that they wanted to win the series but the visitors put them under pressure on various occasions. Ends by saying that they stood together through tough times and are the deserved winners.
After gaining a handy lead of 152, the hosts did lose a couple of early wickets but it wasn't going to trouble them much. Williamson scored a free-flowing fifty while Ross Taylor hit a measured ton to take the home side to a formidable total. The visitors faltered in the run chase, gifting their wickets away with their reckless approach and were handed a big defeat. Be with us as the presentation is coming up...
The Windies in reply were not good enough. Apart from Brathwaite who scored a fifty, no one really applied themselves and were found wanting in testing conditions. Boult was in his elements picking up a 4-wicket haul while the other seamers grabbed two wickets each.
Earlier, New Zealand posted a good total on the board on the back of a resolute 84 from Jeet Raval, a breezy half century from Colin de Grandhomme and the 61-run last wicket stand between Trent Boult and Tim Southee. Shannon Gabriel was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors, taking a 4-fer but gave away too many no balls - 7 to be precise.
The 78-run stand between Chase and Reifer did give the tourists something to feel good about though. The former scored a classy fifty while the latter showed good resilience but they eventually crumbled under the tall ask.
Another emphatic show from the Black Caps and they take the series 2-0. The Windies were caught in a hole even before this day started. Not much resistance from them and they kept on sloping downhill. The visitors had their hopes pinned on the pair of Brathwaite and Hope but both of them disappointed.

Mitchell Santner To Kemar Roach OUT!
OUT! Bowled 'em! That's the final nail in the coffin. A thoroughly comprehensive victory for the Kiwis. Santner pushes this one quicker through the air on middle and off, Roach plays for the turn which is not present and he ends up being beaten completely, to hear the noise of timber. Santner is pumped and his teammates are ecstatic. Customary handshakes all around. NEW ZEALAND WIN BY 240 RUNS AND TAKE THE SERIES 2-0!
Shannon Gabriel is the last man in.

Mitchell Santner To Miguel Cummins OUT!
OUT! Cummins holes out! Tossed up delivery around off, Cummins looks to heave it over mid on but the ball skews off the outer half of his bat over mid off. Boult backtracks from the same region and takes a good catch.

SIX! What a shot! Cummins get into the act as well. Full delivery on off, Cummins clears his front leg and tonks it over deep mid-wicket for a biggie. 200 up for the Windies, something to smile about for them.

Tim Southee To Kemar Roach
Roach is lucky! Yorker around off, Roach tries to dig it out but seems to have missed it as the ball carries to the keeper. The hosts appeal but the umpire stays put. Hot Spot shows that the ball brushed the toe-end of the bat before the bat hit the ground.

Tim Southee To Kemar Roach
In the air... but safe! Backs away to the short ball and top edges his heave just over the man at mid-wicket. A run taken. Roach calls his partner through for the second and his partner is late to respond. However, he makes it to the non-striker's end just in time.

SIX! Going, going, gone! Roach backs away to the short ball and murders it over cow corner for a maximum.
The session is getting extended. Usually it happens when a sole wicket is remaining but the umpires have stretched it. Don't know for how long. Not sure you can do it.
