So that is it then! The Indians are handed the trophy and they are seen celebrating. A convincing series win one can say. Now they need to turn their attention to the shortest format. They have three T20Is coming up with the first one to be played on the 6th of February at 2000 local (0700 GMT). Till then, take care and goodbye!
Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, says he feels good especially after the Hamilton loss. States his team showed great character to bounce back. Reckons the partnership between Vijay Shankar and Ambati Rayudu was the turning point. Credits the way Pandya batted towards the end. Appreciates the way they bowled and defended this total in tough conditions. Mentions he would have batted second if the series was on the line but they wanted to test themselves. Ends by saying they have the right balance in the bowling department and beating New Zealand in their own backyard is a big achievement.
New Zealand skipper, Kane Williamson, says the surface was a challenging one. Mentions India's good finish saw them end with a total which was slightly above par. States they kept losing wickets at the wrong time which dented their chances of winning this game. Credits the way Rayudu played first and then how the Indian bowlers bowled. Reckons one more partnership and the story would have been different. He hopes to learn from this series loss. Ends by saying the Indians had them more under pressure throughout the series and they failed to cope with it.
PLAYER OF THE SERIES IS MOHAMMED SHAMI.
Man of the Match, Ambati Rayudu, says it was very tough against a quality bowling attack. Mentions at 18 for 4, he wanted to take his time and focus on not losing wickets. He was more keen on playing out the 50 overs. States the Hamilton performance was a one off game and they proved they are a good enough side here today. Credits the way his bowlers defended the total.
It was a really professional bowling performance by India. Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were exceptional in Powerplay 1 and created all the pressure. Hardik Pandya and Vijay Shankar never let the intensity drop in the middle overs and then the spin of Yuzvendra Chahal bamboozled the Kiwis. Kedar Jadhav also played his part and as mentioned earlier, he hunted down the big fish, Kane Williamson. All in all, it was a complete team effort from India and they deservingly take the series 4-1.
In pursuit, New Zealand lost Henry Nicholls cheaply and after throwing his bat around for a while, Colin Munro's lucky stay in the middle also got over. When Ross Taylor departed, it looked like India will run through their batting order but the pair of Kane Williamson and Tom Latham steadied the ship with a valuable stand. The hosts were well on course after that but the Men in Blue never lost hope. The magic arm of Kedar Jadhav brought them the breakthrough and the Indian bowlers capitalized from thereon. The wickets started to tumble at regular intervals and in spite of the required run rate not too demanding, the lower half didn't show enough patience. James Neesham and Mitchell Santner did try their best but once the former was run out by MS Dhoni, the writing was on the wall.
Excellent win for India! They have bounced back brilliantly after suffering an embarrassing loss in the previous ODI. Earlier it appeared that the script of Hamilton will get repeated here as well when they were 18/4 but this time around, they kept their cool and did well to form partnerships in the middle overs. Efforts of Ambati Rayudu, Vijay Shankar and Kedar Jadhav put them in a good position and then Hardik Pandya's cameo powered their score beyond the 250-run mark.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar To Trent Boult OUT!
OUT! All over! India win by 35 runs and take the series 4-1! Kumar bangs in a short delivery outside off, Boult throws his bat at it in an attempt to slap it through the line but it takes the top edge. The ball flies in the air and Shami takes a simple catch at third man. The players are shaking hands in the middle now.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar returns into the attack.

Hardik Pandya To Mitchell Santner OUT!
OUT! That is probably the final nail in the coffin. Santner stands there in disbelief. A tad unlucky he is, you can say. That was a boundary delivery. A half volley on leg stump. Santner flicks it fine, there is just one fielder there. Mohammed Shami takes it easily at short fine leg. India are a wicket away now.
Can he finish things off in this over?
Hardik Pandya is back on.
