Right then, after all the intense battle we have got our top four teams. Mumbai and Chennai will be locking horns in Qualifier 1 at the Chepauk Stadium on 7th May at 1930 local (1400 GMT) while on 8th May, Delhi will be facing Hyderabad in Eliminator at the same time. We look forward to your company. Until then, it's goodbye and cheers!
Man of the Match, Hardik Pandya is pleased to get the award for his bowling. Says that as a batsman when you hit the ball nothing is better than that but if you do something people are not expecting from you, nothing like that. When asked about his hitting power, Pandya replies that he has no clue from where he generates all the power to clear the ropes. On playing in Chennai, Hardik mentions that it will be a cracker of a game and hopes for the best. Tells that it depends on the situation on how many overs are required from him.
Mumbai skipper, Rohit Sharma says that it was a team effort that pleases him the most. Adds that they don't depend on individuals and praises the entire bowling unit for restricting the Kolkata batting to a paltry total. Mentions that his bowlers bowled smartly after the first six overs to pull things back and showed a lot of character. States that the business end really matters and he is satisfied that they came back really well in the second half of the tournament. Says that IPL is a very funny tournament and on a given day any team can beat anyone. Wants to focus on taking tiny steps. Mentions about his daughter who has been coming for all the matches but he was not getting runs. Rohit, then, smiles and adds that he got a few runs today but she was sleeping.
Suryakumar Yadav is up next for a chat. He says the role this season for him has been to support the other batsmen and bat as long as possible. Hopes to continue doing well. Says they just wanted to bat and keep things simple and that's what Rohit advised him also. Credits the bowlers for their performance and tells that he felt it was not easy to bowl on this surface. Calls it a team effort. On the Mumbai crowd, Suryakumar Yadav replies that the fans have always been brilliant and thanks them for all the support.
Kolkata skipper, Dinesh Karthik says that they did not find momentum and also failed to get going with the wickets falling regularly. Feels that when they were batting the surface was holding up a bit and Mumbai bowlers bowled good cutters. Adds that they decided to send Russell up the order if there was an opportunity but states that expecting Russell to perform every time is unfair. Finishes by mentioning that it was a decent season although they have had better seasons.
Yet another one-sided affair we witnessed today. Mumbai dominated this match thoroughly apart from the first six overs when Kolkata were batting. Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya brought the home team back in the match and then they built relentless pressure on Kolkata. The touring team ended with a paltry total on the board which got chased down by Mumbai without break a sweat. Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma once again laid the platform up front and then the latter batted through along with Suryakumar Yadav to steer Mumbai home with 23 balls to spare. The duo put together an unbeaten 88-run stand.
A stroll in the park for Mumbai and they have jumped to the top of the points table. Also, Kolkata get knocked out and Hyderabad become the fourth team to qualify for the playoffs. Smiles all around in the Mumbai camp, their players are shaking hands and hugging each other. Now, the blue team is taking a lap of honour to thank the Mumbai crowd. They are carrying a banner that reads - Thank you to the largest family in the world!
