That's it from us today. What an exciting Saturday we have had. It seems like the MS Dhoni special we saw was two days ago. But really, how good have Mumbai been so far in the tournament. Winning 6 back-to-back matches is a great sign for this team and they would like to continue that. Delhi, on the other hand, are once again failing to come on top in crucial moments. They will have to sort that out as soon as possible. Anyways we have another double header coming our way. Gujarat host Punjab in Rajkot at 1600 local (1030 GMT), while, Kolkata take on Bangalore at 2000 local (1430 GMT). Do join us for all the action. Cheers!
Mitchell McClenaghan is adjudged the Man of the Match! Says that he went for 50 odd in the last game and it's a roller coaster ride in this format. Adds that they had some idea about the wicket and praises every bowler for sticking to the plan. Smiles and says that he is really happy to dismiss his countryman Corey Anderson and get one up on him.
Rohit Sharma says they were outstanding with the ball. Opines that defending 142 always seemed hard but our bowlers stood out. Mentions that they believed they could defend any total on this ground as they have done that in the past. Conveys that batting wasn't upto the mark today but he doesn't want to put too much blame on them as they have done well so far in the tournament. Thanks the crowd for constantly churning out and being the 12th man for them. Mentions that the pitch looked a little dry and the talk in the dressing room was that they had to vary their lines and lengths. Thinks that dew not being there helped them, they thought it would be a major factor but fortunately there wasn't any.
Zaheer Khan says that only chance for Mumbai winning this match was taking early wickets and that's what they did. Feels that they restricted Mumbai to a low total but losing early wickets didn't help their cause. Praises his bowlers for doing an outstanding job and wants his batsmen to be more responsible. Adds that Mumbai were 25 runs short and they bowled really well to defend it. Admits they were in a spot of bother on 24 for 6 but from there it was a fantastic effort to lose by a lesser margin. Thinks the wicket was good to bat but they failed to capitalize. Opines that they have to put some good performances and believe in themselves. He is hopeful that once things will start to turn their way, they will be back in the tournament.
Mitchell McClenaghan was the standout bowler for the hosts. He struck thrice in his first spell to puncture Delhi's chase. Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, too, were among the wickets picking 1 and 2 wickets respectively. Mitchell Johnson playing his first match was very economical along with Harbhajan Singh. Rohit Sharma must be mighty pleased with this effort from his bowlers and ensuring that his side remains at the top of the table and stretch their winning streak to six. Stay tuned for the presentation.
9, 0, 5, 6, 0, 0, no that's not a pin code. These are the scores of the top six Delhi batsmen. This pretty much sums up where they lost the match. It was always looking a tough task after the start they got but Chris Morris and Kagiso Rabada stuck together, stitched a 91-run stand to take their side really close. However, some outstanding death bowling from Jasprit Bumrah sealed the deal for Mumbai. He allowed only 9 runs in his last two overs (17th and 19th) to ensure that Hardik Pandya had enough runs to defend in the final over.
