So that is it from us for this game. We had two good games today. Kolkata first smashed Bangalore to consolidate their position on the points table before Gujarat upset Punjab in Mohali. There is just the one match tomorrow, Hyderabad will host Mumbai for a game at 2000 local (1430 GMT). We look forward to your company. Until then, it's goodbye and take care!
Man of the Match, Dwayne Smith says that he is still disappointed with his performances in the past games. Reckons that his natural game is attacking and he backs himself. Opines that he asked Kishan to just stay positive because the southpaw has been scoring heavily in the past few games. Feels that the pitch was a good one as the ball was coming onto the bat. Ends by saying that they are already out of the tournament but hopes to damage the chances of other teams.
Gujarat skipper, Suresh Raina says that Smith gave them a good start. Mentions that the wicket was good to bat on and 185-190 was chaseable. Says that partnerships were key for them. Credits Sandeep and Mohit for bowling well. Further mentions that they have been getting good starts but in the middle overs they rotated the strike well and hence won the game. Admits that they lost a lot of players to injuries and did not play to their potential. Hopes that the youngsters would have learned from the experience since it will help them in the future.
Punjab skipper, Glenn Maxwell says that it was a pretty average night. Mentions that they had enough runs on the board but three crucial drop catches cost them the game. On the argument with the umpire he replies that it was a case of miscommunication and nothing else. Admits that they haven't been consistent till now and now they need to scrap through in their next three games. Adds that Miller and Hashim Amla head back to their national duties so they would have to look deep in their reserves to find suitable replacements for them.
Poor Hashim Amla, he scored his second ton this season and has ended on the losing side yet again. Punjab should be really disappointed with their effort. They had a par score on the board but again were left ruing the drop catches. They didn't hit their mark often and now have only made things tougher for them. Gujarat will be pretty pleased with the win. They have chased down a big target with relative ease despite not having one of their preferred star openers in Brendon McCullum.
Gujarat have played party spoilers here! Chasing a big score, the visitors began cautiously mixing caution with aggression. There was a moment in the field when Sandeep Sharma changed sides without informing the umpire and ever since then the hosts just lost the plot. Maxwell and his boys did not concentrate enough. They dropped Smith twice and he made them pay big scoring an influential 74 in just 39 balls. The away side did lose a few wickets towards the end but a calm head of Dinesh Karthik saw them through.
