That is it from this game but don't go anywhere as South Africa Women will take on New Zealand Women shortly. So switch the tabs and join us there. Cheers!
Heather Knight says they have got some superb spinners and they did a great job. Adds it was hard work in the end but two points are important. Shares that in this format, aggression is important. Feels they have good depth in the batting. Hopes for a great game against India.
Laura Delany says it is disappointing to lose but credit to England for the way they played. Adds their top three batted well and the next step is to keep the momentum going. Reckons they are looking forward to the game against Pakistan. Ends by thanking the crowd for the support.
Alice Capsey wins the Player of the Match. She says it is an honor to play for England. On her batting, she says she tries to put pressure on the bowler. Reckons they are confident and enjoying their time. Hopes to continue the way they are playing. On the wicket, it is staying low and holding a bit.
... Presentation time...
Ireland Women bowlers were too wayard in the start and that didn't help them. There was enough in the pitch to test the English batter but their bowling was not good enough. Just as we saw how England lost a bit, Ireland Women would have hoped to bowl much better. Credits to the English bowlers for the way they bowl, the spinners took 8 out of 10 wickets.
A comfortable win for England! They did crawl towards the target in the end but there was never a tense moment. Have to say it was the bowlers who put the two points on the plate. They keep down Ireland from a promising position and had a below-par total to chase. Alice Capsey turned up and looked in hurry as she scored a fifty. England Women were on course to chase it down quickly but lost few wickets and the win was just pushed back.
Just like Ireland, England did start to lose wickets in the later half but they reached the target with ease. Only if Ireland would have managed to score something around 150, the chase would have been tight.
