So that is it from this Test. Ireland showed great fight and they did prove they belong amongst the elites. Pakistan on the other hand, still have a lot of work to be done as the test they face ahead won't be easy. They will now be going to face England in this month which can turn out to be another cracking contest. For now you can switch tabs to the Indian T20 League game between Kolkata and Rajasthan. Goodbye and cheers.
Not many a times do you see a player from the losing side is awarded the Man of the Match. But such was the performance of Kevin O'Brien. He was their highest scorer in both the innings but his ton in the second, not only helped Ireland avoid an innings defeat but also made them believe they could have won it.
Chasing 160, Pakistan lost 3 wickets quickly and at that time Ireland looked like they will go on to win their first Test. But an outstanding stand between Babar Azam and Imam saw them weathering the storm and taking Pakistan over the line.
310 was the deficit Ireland had to wipe off and they fell way short. They lost a flurry of wickets at the start with no top order batsmen getting into double figures. Kevin O'Brien did fight hard but Ireland were bundled out for a paltry total with Abbas and Shadab sharing 7 wickets amongst them. After the follow-on being enforced the home side showed more character with the bat. Their opening pair got them off to a good start but their middle order stumbled. However, Kevin O'Brien who scored a ton, along with Thompson first and Kane set a difficult target of 160.
A brilliant Test match is what we witnessed. It ended as everybody expected with Pakistan coming out victorious but the Irish did give them a run for their money. After the first day being washed off, the home side won the toss on the second day and elected to bowl. They had Pakistan on the mat at 159 for 6 courtesy some exceptional bowling by Murtagh but could not capitalize. Some poor fielding and wayward bowling saw Shadab Khan and another debutant, Faheem Ashraf, build a 117-run stand which took Pakistan to a respectable first inning score.
Imam-ul-Haq, a debut to remember for the young lad. He has batted through and ensured his side finish on the right side. He walks off to a standing ovation by his team mates. They required another 108 runs after the Lunch break and they have toppled those runs off in ease, courtesy a 126-run stand between Babar (who was dropped by Balbirnie) and Imam. They did lose two wickets towards the end but Shadab Khan then came in an ensured there were no further hiccups.

Tyrone Kane To Imam-ul-Haq
That is it! It is Imam, the youngster, who hits the winning runs on his debut. Not in convincing fashion but he won't care. This is an inswinger on off, Imam tries to defend it but it goes off the inner half through backward square leg for a brace. All smiles in the Pakistan camp as THEY WIN BY 5 WICKETS!
