Right then, that is all we have from this high-profile encounter. However, the action coninues on this Super Sunday as Sri Lanka Women take on Bangladesh Women in the second game. That game will start at 10.30 pm IST (5 pm GMT). So switch tabs and enjoy the coverage of that game. Cheers!
Harmanpreet Kaur, the skipper of India Women says that it was a good game and Pakistan batted well and they wanted to win this game. Applauds Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh for their performance and says that everyone is looking to do well whenever the opportunity comes. Mentions that all the games are crucial but a win against Pakistan is always special. Says that the crowd support was good and they enjoyed the game. Informs that they would like to work in the nets before the next game and sort out things that did not went well in this game.
Bismah Maroof, the skipper of Pakistan Women says that they were in the game all the time and adds that India played well but they made a lot of mistakes in the bowling department. Hopes to do well in the next game. Says that the girls were given the role before thew game and they did well in this game. Applauds Ayesha Naseem for the knock she played.
Jemimah Rodrigues is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. She says that she does not know what to say but they needed a partnership and wanted to take the game deep. Tells that she had a good partnership with Richa Ghosh earlier and so they were confident. Mentions that the knock in this game means a lot to her as she has not scored much in the last few games. Adds that they knew that they can win the game if they bat till the end as they needed 10 runs per over and they knew that bad ball would come and they just had to take advantage of them. Tells that it was a difficult wicket and bit of two-paced but the set batters could score runs on it. States that it was a team effort and they would let this win sink in but adds that the tournament has just begun and they want to do the process right and result will take care of itself.
Time for the Presentation.
Earlier in the day, after electing to bat, Pakistan were in trouble when they were 4 down for not a lot but Ayesha Naseem and Bismah Maroof added 81 in no time to take them to a good score. Jemimah Rodrigues though along with Richa Ghosh played brilliantly to taken India over the line.
Pakistan will be disappointed with how the pacers bowled! Their spinners were decent, especiall, Nashra Sandhu and Sadia Iqbal but the spells from Fatima Sana and Aiman Anwer took the game away. They bowled far too many boundary balls which cost them the game. Had the two spinners got support from the others, the story could have well been different.
Chasing a stiff target, India lost a wicket early. Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues steadied the ship with a handy stand. Just as the game was drifting away from Pakistan, they got Verma. Kaur came out and played with intent but when she fell, the game was hanging in the balance. The run rate went over 10 heading into the last 4 but Jemimah Rodrigues played brilliantly, she was well supported by Richa Ghosh who survived a review and the two ensured it is India who finish on top.
That is a fine, fine innings from Jemimah Rodrigues and she is the main reason for her side getting over the line. Absolutely brilliant from her. Despite the run rate needed going up, despite seeing wickets fall at the other end, she kept her cool and has given her side a very important win.

GIVE OUT LBW! Richa Ghosh seems a goner but she reviews. NOT OUT! Ultra Edge shows a spike as it passes the glove. She survives. The Indian dressing room breathes a huge sigh of relief. On middle, Richa Ghosh looks to sweep but seems to have missed it. It hits the pad. An appeal and the finger is raised. Richa reviews to good use.
