What's on the menu for Tuesday? Up next on 21st April, the action moves to Hyderabad, where the Sunrisers will square off against the Delhi Capitals. Hyderabad have won their last couple of games, while Delhi are coming off a win over the reigning champions in Bengaluru. The game will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). Our build-up will be up and running well before that. See you then. Cheers!
Is this the night it all turns around for MI? Well, the five-time champions will certainly hope so. History shows they know how to bounce back, and this win not only gives them momentum but also a much-needed boost to their net run rate. Up next, they face familiar rivals, Chennai Super Kings at home on Thursday, 23rd April. As for the Gujarat Titans, they came into this game on a three-match winning streak, but this heavy defeat will sting. They now travel to take on the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, on Friday, 24th April.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - No surprises there, Tilak Varma takes the award for his heroics. His stunning 45-ball 101* included 8 fours and 7 sixes. Varma says that the first hundred will always be special. Adds that it was very important for them to win this one. Mentions that in the first five games, he didn't spend much time in the middle, but here he took his time, and knew that once set, he could accelerate well. Varma shares that he was just trying to keep a still base, and when you are under pressure, you just have to back your skills, and it paid off. Also praises Naman Dhir for the way he batted, and it was a crucial partnership. Ends by saying that he is very proud of himself for the way he batted.
The captain of the Mumbai Indians - Hardik Pandya says it is a very important win. He adds that it is always challenging to win away from home, especially in Ahmedabad, which has been a tough venue for them. He feels the team played good cricket and says the result is very special because it was much needed. Hardik mentions that he kept telling Tilak to keep watching the ball, and says it was about time he stepped up and delivered. Opines that Jasprit Bumrah is special and should be used when the team requires him, not necessarily at the start, but tonight, they needed to make inroads with the new ball, so he bowled upfront. Pandya also praises the youngsters, saying the group needed that energy. Adds that Krish Bhagat bowled in the right areas and calls Ashwani's effort amazing.
Time for the presentation ceremony...
A quick word with one of MI's stars - Ashwani Kumar says that, looking at the surface, he quickly learned that length balls were the way to go here. Adds that he planned with skipper Hardik Pandya where to bowl, and it all worked out well. Ashwani mentions that just like last season, he was ready, waiting for his opportunity and wanted to make an impact for the team.
The captain of the Gujarat Titans - Shubman Gill says that they gave away too many runs in the middle and death overs. Adds that on a wicket like this, 160-170 would have been a par score, and there are a lot of learnings to take from it. Mentions that hopefully this is just a small hiccup and they have two games on the road, where they will look to come back stronger. Shubman says that they didn't hit the right areas, some of the balls were coming on, some were not, but they needed to be better with the ball. Ends by saying that the wicket might have gotten a bit better to bat on with dew, but they didn't make the most of it.
Tilak turned the tide with a maiden IPL ton - After opting to bowl first on a black soil surface, the Gujarat Titans landed the first blow in this contest, with Kagiso Rabada striking thrice in the Powerplay. Naman Dhir and Tilak Varma then stitched together a partnership, but Dhir could not last long enough. Tilak took charge from there as he put behind him his early struggles. He was 19 off 22 at one stage, and the second timeout changed everything for him as he went on to score 82 off the next 23 balls. Varma brought up a 45-ball hundred, the joint-fastest for Mumbai in the IPL, drawing level with Sanath Jayasuriya. GT left much to be desired with their death bowling as MI finished with 199.
Early blows left GT with no way back - With 96 runs coming off the last 6 overs of their innings, Mumbai carried that momentum into their bowling effort, and it all kickstarted with Jasprit Bumrah striking off the very first ball. That was his first wicket of the season, and from there, MI rode the wave. It was one of those rare nights for Gujarat where none of their top three clicked, and all fell inside the Powerplay. The middle order could not rise to the occasion either, as the tourists kept chipping away. Ashwani Kumar starred with a four-wicket haul, including the prized scalp of the GT skipper.
Mumbai Indians snap the losing streak - History was against them, having never beaten the Gujarat Titans at this venue before, and given the form, GT came in as the favourites. For the first 14 overs of the game, it seemed to be heading that way, but Tilak Varma sparked the turnaround, and from there, it was a domino effect. Gujarat have been handed their biggest defeat in terms of runs in the IPL. The 99-run loss surpasses their previous heaviest defeat, which was an 83-run loss against CSK last season.

AM Ghazanfar To Mohammed Siraj OUT!
OUT! LBW! Mumbai Indians win by 99 runs. AM Ghazanfar wraps things up here, or does he? Mohammed Siraj has taken the review here, but if there is no bat involved, this looks plumb. The on-field call is Out. This is tossed up, full and on middle, turns in a bit. Mohammed Siraj goes down for the sweep but misses it completely, getting hit on the pads right in front of the stumps. UltraEdge confirms no bat involved and Ball Tracking comes up with three reds, with the ball crashing into the middle stump.

AM Ghazanfar To Kagiso Rabada OUT!
OUT! STUMPED! AM Ghazanfar gets a wicket now. He once again gives it a flick with his middle finger, lands this short and on middle, turning in sharply. Kagiso Rabada skips down the track but gets nowhere near the ball. He still goes for the big heave across the line and misses it, with Quinton de Kock doing the rest behind the stumps.

In the air...SAFE! Bangs this into the pitch, on middle, takes pace off again. Kagiso Rabada connects with the pull but gets no timing. It flies in the air but lands wide of deep mid-wicket, who collects it on the bounce. They cross. Ashwani Kumar finishes a superb spell of bowling with figures of 4-0-24-4.
