So that's it from us for today. What an exciting match we have had! Mumbai have turned out victorious but you have to state the cliche here that "Cricket was the winner". We are not done with double headers yet as we have another which starts tomorrow. Firstly, Punjab host Delhi in Mohali at 1600 local (1030 GMT), and then Hyderabad host Kolkata at 2000 local (1430 GMT). Surely an exciting day of cricket awaits. Until then, cheers and take care.
Man of the Match, Krunal Pandya feels that he is an all-rounder and needs to contribute in all three aspects of the game. Mentions that he knew that the wicket was not that easy to bat on. Reckons that he thought of going as close as possible to take the game through. Ends by saying that he had a chat with Malinga and they had decided to take the game to the last ball.
Mumbai skipper, Rohit Sharma says that winning the game is the perfect birthday present for him. Mentions that this was the first Super Over he took part in. Reckons that chasing was tough as the wicket kept getting slower and slower. Applauds the Gujarat bowlers for bowling really well. Credits Krunal Pandya for nearly pulling it off and praises all the guys for sticking to their plans. Feels that momentum takes a crucial part in this tournament. Ends by saying that his squad has quite some talent.
Gujarat skipper, Suresh Raina says that his heart is fine. Feels that this game was one of the most exciting games he has been part of. Reckons that the wicket was quite slow and says that they tried really hard. Appreciates his bowlers for bowling well after they fell 30 runs short with the bat. Ends by saying that it was a really good game of cricket, even after being on the losing side.
We witnessed a lot of drama in the death overs where the wickets fell, the runs came and eventually it went to the Super Over, where Mumbai managed clinch a superb victory. It was first with the bat when Kieron Pollard scored the runs and then, Jasprit Bumrah with the ball who did not let the Gujarat batsmen score. A truly enthralling encounter which the visiting side will be glad they won.
Then, with a target of 154 to chase, Mumbai got off to a good start with Parthiv Patel scoring a fluent 70. Gujarat made a good comeback in the middle overs with their spinners choking the run flow. James Faulkner has to be given special credit as he bowled a fantastic spell, in which he took 2 wickets in a single over. Thampi came back well in the end and scalped wickets.
Could not have asked for a better game of cricket. This is what the Indian T20 League is about. We had two teams who gave it their all tonight and provided the fans with entertainment of the highest quality. It all started with Gujarat putting up a competitive total on the board courtesy a blazing knock from Kishan and some late hitting from Jadeja, Faulkner and Tye. If it weren't for them, Mumbai would have restricted them to a low total as Krunal Pandya led the attack with a 3-fer and he was well supported by his fellow bowlers as almost all of them chipped in with wickets.
Terrific work from Jasprit Bumrah to bowl like that, under such immense pressure, and get his team over the line. With 11 to defend, he only conceded 6 runs, that too against quality batsmen. What makes it even more special is that he started off with a no ball and a wide. He came to the fore with his exceptional yorkers and variations to put in a superb display. The away side can rejoice as they've won this match in some style.
Ball 6: Bumrah to McCullum, 1 run! McCullum hits this full ball down to long off and takes a single. It's not enough and MUMBAI WIN THE SUPER OVER!
Ball 5: Bumrah to Finch, 1 run! Full toss on off stump, Finch hits it through the covers for a single.
Ball 4: Bumrah to Finch, No run! Yorker from Bumrah and he fires it outside off, Finch cannot make any kind of connection on it.
Ball 3: Bumrah to McCullum, Bye! Slower full toss outside off, McCullum with another swing and a miss. Finch however is alert as he sees Parthiv Patel fumbling the ball and gets across to the other end.
Ball 2: Bumrah to McCullum, No run! Bumrah deceives McCullum with another slower one and this is closer to the off stump. The Kiwi swings and misses.
Ball 2: Bumrah to McCullum, Wide! Bumrah bowls a slower ball but it's way outside off, goes across the tramline and the umpire signals a wide.
Ball 1: Bumrah to Finch, Leg bye! Bumrah fires a good yorker on leg, Finch moves a bit across to scoop but is hit low on his pads. The batsmen run across for a leg bye.
Ball 1: Bumrah to Finch, No ball! Bumrah has overstepped on this occasion and it's highly unfortunate, because he bowled a beautiful yorker to beat Finch. Free Hit coming up on the next delivery...
Now Gujarat walk out to bat, Jasprit Bumrah will bowl the Super Over for Mumbai. Aaron Finch and Brendon McCullum will bat for Gujarat. Can they pull it off?
After smashing 11 runs off the first three balls, Mumbai have lost two wickets off the next two balls. Which means, Gujarat will have to score 12 runs to win the game.
Ball 5: Faulkner to Buttler, OUT! Fuller and slower from Faulkner, Buttler swings hard and gets a big top edge. It flies to Ishan Kishan at point who runs in a bit to his right and takes a good diving catch.
Ball 4: Faulkner to Pollard, OUT! Full toss on the stumps, Pollard heaves it over wide mid on. Finch out in the deep runs to his right, settles himself under the ball and takes a good catch. Rohit Sharma will be the next man in to bat.
Pollard is striking it well. Can he hit some more?
Ball 3: Faulkner to Pollard, SIX! Fuller around off, Pollard launches this high and handsome over the long on fence for a maximum. That was a clean hit.
Ball 2: Faulkner to Pollard, FOUR! Full and outside off, Pollard reaches out to it and lofts it over extra cover. Beats the man in the deep and sends it across the rope for a boundary.
Ball 1: Faulkner to Buttler, 1 run! From around the wicket, it's angling in on off, Buttler drives it through to sweeper cover.
It will be James Faulkner to bowl the Super Over for Gujarat. Kieron Pollard and Jos Buttler walk out to the middle. Buttler to take strike.
This has literally gone down to the wire. Typical of a Mumbai match but even this is too much for them. The visitors got off to a good start with Parthiv Patel firing on all cylinders. He scored a fifty before he departed. But Gujarat did well to come back in the middle overs and it is largely down to their fielding. They restricted the runs and the wickets kept coming. Went down to the last ball and now we have a Super Over. It's going to come up in a short while. Don't go anywhere.

Irfan Pathan To Lasith Malinga OUT!
OUT! WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A SUPER OVER! The first Super Over of the 2017 Indian T20 League. Pathan from around the wicket fires it full on leg, Malinga is hit on the boot as he looks to flick and the ball lobs on the off side. It goes to Jadeja at point and the batsmen are off for the run. He scores a direct hit at the striker's end and replays show Krunal is short of his crease.
Jadeja has struck again. He has shattered the stumps at the striker's end. The umpires have gone upstairs for a run out appeal against Krunal Pandya. Jadeja is celebrating.
Are we up for a Super Over? One needed of the last ball. Malinga on strike and Irfan Pathan to bowl. The crowd is up on its feet. All the fielders are inside the circle.
