Phew! That's it from all of us for this game. We hope you enjoyed our coverage. We look forward to your company for the double-header tomorrow. Punjab host Pune for their opening game in the tournament while Bangalore host Delhi later in the day. It should be a humdinger! Do join us for all the action. The first game begins at 1600 local time (1030 GMT). Until then, it's goodbye and take care!
Man of the Match, Chris Lynn says that he is very comfortable with his role at Kolkata. He though adds that he wants to be consistent as one good game doesn't make it special. Hopes that he can continue the momentum as that will please him the most. Adds that he enjoys the ball coming on the bat. Says that is happy to bat with Gambhir who is a good player of spin so they can rotate the strike at will. Mentions that it was a good flat wicket for the batsman and he enjoyed batting on it.
Kolkata skipper, Gautam Gambhir reckons that it was a perfect start to the tournament for them. Applauds Chris Lynn for the way he batted at the start. Credits his bowlers for bowling really well throughout the first innings. Appreciates his spinners for bowling well in tight situations. Mentions that they know how dangerous Lynn is and they are going to give him a long run. Mentions that there is always room for improvement and they will look to work on their fielding. Ends by saying that the team will look to play around Chris Lynn.
Gujarat skipper, Suresh Raina feels that 180 was a good total on the board. Rues the lack of experience in the bowling department. Adds that he and Dinesh Karthik batted really well in the middle. Acknowledges the fact that Gujarat missed world class players in Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo. Applauds Dinesh Karthik for batting really well and congratulates him for having a fantastic domestic season. Also lauds the batting from Jason Roy and Brendon McCullum.
Gujarat will be utterly disappointed with the game. They huffed and puffed their way to post this total but the batting from Kolkata made a mockery of Gujarat's effort. None of the bowlers posed a threat to the batsmen and skipper Suresh Raina will want to ensure his team gets over this loss pretty soon.
Both Chris Lynn and Gautam Gambhir began aggressively and never let the Gujarat bowlers settle. Lynn in particular was not holding himself back. He found the fence at regular intervals as the bowlers for the hosts wilted under pressure of the assault. Both the Kolkata openers notched up their fifties and took their team home with ages to spare.
Woah! That was real quick from Kolkata! Chasing a score of 184, Gujarat would have expected a close contest but this has been a mauling. Kolkata have raced away to a smashing victory in just 14.5 overs without losing a single wicket. Gujarat didn't know what hit them but the visitors have begun the tournament with aplomb.
