End of a long tour and the Englishmen have come out with flying colors! Results that will please the hosts completely. They were at it on every occasion and didn't let the intensity drop. They inflicted a clean sweep on South Africa and followed it with another one against the Windies. The only disappointment would be losing the semi-final of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy against Pakistan as they were tipped as the favourites. The all-important Ashes is coming up in November and the confidence will be high heading into the series. On the other hand, the Windies showed glimpses of individual brilliance but failed to come through as a team. They will head back home and need to polish their skills. We hope you enjoyed our coverage. Goodbye and cheers!
Time for celebration! Eoin Morgan has been handed over the trophy. He poses along with his teammates for photographs. Happy English faces all around!
England skipper, Eoin Morgan says that he is extremely proud of his side. Mentions that they have continued their form from the Champions Trophy. States that they have been convincing against a strong side like West Indies. Feels that they have played as a team, going out and getting big scores is a great thing. Praises Bairstow for the way he plays. Adds that he has made his limited opportunities count. Reckons that they need to improve their fielding. Feels that it is not a worry but they are far away from being the best fielding side in the world. Adds that winning by 9 wickets was great. Mentions that Curran's performance against South Africa was good and he is happy that he delivered here. Opines that they cannot rely on the spinners every time and adds that the pace bowlers need to make the ball move sideways. Declares that the preparation for the 2019 World Cup is good. Feels that they are confident heading into the Ashes. Ends by saying that it has been a satisfying summer.
West Indies skipper, Jason Mohammed says that they didn't deliver under pressure. Mentions that the bowlers are wicket-takers especially Jerome Taylor but it didn't work in this series. Credits the English batters for playing well. Adds that they could have been much better in the field. States that they need to rotate strike more frequently when they bat. Opines that with some of the senior guys back, they will inspire the youngsters.
MOEEN ALI IS THE MAN OF THE SERIES. He says that he has played the way he likes and it has paid off. Mentions that the short boundaries help. Adds that it is not easy to bat at No. 8 but is pleased with his big-hitting. States that Adil Rashid takes a lot of wickets and he enjoys bowling along side him. States that he can't wait for the Ashes in Australia.
JONNY BAIRSTOW HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. He says that he is very pleased to end the summer with some runs. Mentions that the first hundred was more important. Adds that he capitalized on that and continued his form. States that when you get an opportunity, you need to take it. Expresses that he is happy with his performance. Reckons that both Hales and Roy outscore him and feels that this is the reason they have scored heavily in the last 18 months. Ends by saying that he will take rest for the two next weeks and go back to the gym.
Special mention needs to be given to Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy. The former grabbed the opportunity to bat at the top of the order with both hands, scoring two centuries in the series. Roy had lost his place due to a lean patch but has come back with a bang. With these two performing, it puts more pressure on Alex Hales. There will be competition for places in the playing eleven now. Perhaps, a good headache to have for Eoin Morgan. Stay tuned for the presentation...
The visitors tried everything but with minimal success. The hero of the last game, Alzarri Joseph struggled and was taken to the cleaners. In fact, every bowler was tonked all around the park, leaving them hapless in the process. The tourists looked clueless and surrendered without a fight. Two consecutive century stands sealed the deal for the hosts. A fitting way to end the long English summer!
An apt term to describe this chase will be flawless. With that, England inflict a 4-0 clean sweep on the Windies. 289 looked like a competitive target but the home side has made a mockery of it. Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow came out with intent, scoring at will. Nothing seemed to trouble them and they kept on motoring along. Roy missed out on a century by a mere 4 runs but Bairstow hit a fabulous unbeaten ton to take his side over the finishing line along with his Yorkshire teammate, Joe Root.

Miguel Cummins To Jonny Bairstow
FOUR! Fullish and shaping in. Bairstow whips it through mid-wicket. Ambris in the deep runs to his left, looks very clumsy and ends up making a mess of it with a slide. Looks like while he tried to keep the ball back in play, his leg came in contact with the ropes. The replays confirm so. That must have hurt.

Wide! Cummins slips this one down the leg side. Jonny looks to clip it away but misses. The 100-run stand comes up between the two. It has brought them to the brink of victory.
