Right then. With England sweeping the series 3-0, they will march ahead now to the ODI series and will battle the Sri Lankans out. The first ODI will take place at the Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street on 29th June at 1100 local (1000 GMT). Do join us for that. Till then, take care and cheers!
Eoin Morgan is up for a chat- He says that he has been most impressed with the bowling department. Adds that the guys adapted to the conditions really well. Mentions that to bowl 16 overs on the trot is amazing and cannot fault the bowlers for anything. He adds that he is looking forward to the T20 world cup and is proud of the guy's batting. States that the partnership between Malan and Bairstow was top-notch.
Kusal Perera is up for a chat- He says that to find the tempo is going to be tough and the batting has not been up to the mark. Adds that the batters are not used to the pace and bounce and there is an issue there. Mentions that the batters need to take responsibility and step up their game.
Sam Curran, MAN OF THE MATCH, is here for a chat- He says that he is pleased with how the series went. Adds that he tries to do his best in whatever role is given to him.
David Malan, PLAYER OF THE MATCH is up for a chat says- He says that it is always nice to score runs. Scoring runs at the winning end is always a nice feeling. Adds that the partnership towards the end was crucial and credits himself and Bairstow for managing to post the total above 180. He mentions that he prefers the opening slot. Further states that the way Morgan backs them to play is brilliant. Goes onto say that he would like to play all three formats for England.
No matter how many changes the English side makes to their bowling line-up they never seem to shake off. David Willey strikes in his first over and went on to pick up three wickets on the day. The four pacers did their job really well, as they picked up 8 wickets in total. After completing their spell, the spinners were called upon. Liam Livingstone knocked out Binura Fernando in the end. Later, Ali bowled the penultimate over and got the final man to bundle Sri Lanka out for 91.
The Sri Lankan top-order continued to disappoint as they lost three wickets before the powerplay. Then, it was Oshada Fernando to depart, he never looked settled in the middle as he only wanted to play the shots on the leg side and failed miserably. Fernando and Dickwella were in the middle for long, but were struggling to add runs on the board. After the former was departed, Sri Lanka witnessed a batting collapse as they lost their next four wickets in quick succession and found themselves at 64 for 8. Later the tail-enders got rattled out to the spinners.
Well then it was all about England yet again. As they restricted Sri Lanka to a low score of 91 and the hosts win the series comfortably by 3 to nothing.
