So this ends the proceedings of today's match. England make it three wins in three and top the Group A table. Along with them, beating all the odds, Bangladesh go through to the semis. Tomorrow, we have first of the do-or-die clash from Group B as South Africa take on India for a place in the semis. The match will take place at The Oval and will start at 1030 local time. Until then, take care! Cheers!
Steven Smith says that it is very disappointing. Admits they did not play well. Informs that they lost too many wickets in between and that they can't do it against a top team like England. On being asked whether it was because of his batsmen not spending much time in the middle, he says that it cannot be used as a reason. Reckons the balance of the team was very good but the players did not stand up. Feels that a lot has not gone their way (talking about the weather). Admits they were not at their best with the ball after the break and they gave away some freebies to Stokes and Morgan. Ends by saying they did not play at their best.
Eoin Morgan says that things have been going pretty well for his team and they have been slightly lucky as well. Adds that they did a reasonable job today as they took the game away from Australia when they were in command. Applauds his bowlers in restricting the opposition to a below par total. On Mark Wood's recent scalps, he informs that it takes a high quality bowler to take the wickets of some of the best batsmen in the world. Mentions that either Pakistan or Sri Lanka will be a tough opposition as it's a tough tournament and everyone has to be at their very best. On the talk between him and Stokes after being 3 down quickly, he informs that they told each other, it was a great wicket and they needed to get a partnership going.
Man of the Match, Ben Stokes says that his training has been consistent and he has been timing the ball well. Adds that they wanted to get on with the game as they had a partnership going and didn't want any more interruptions. Praises Eoin Morgan for his knock and says that he has been in great form and hopes that he continues his good work and the team plays around him. Informs that the Indian T20 League experience helped him to play under pressure situation and in front of huge crowd. On his injury he says that he is in good nick and is feeling good about his fitness.
Eoin Morgan and Ben Stokes came out with a very positive attitude and took the attack to the Australian bowlers. They started hitting the ball to all parts of the ground and stitched a 159-run partnership at better than run a ball. The former scored 87 before getting run out. However, Jos Buttler came out and never let the momentum slip. Stokes carried on and scored a century before the rain had the final say in the game. In the end, it was a convincing victory by the English side.
Coming back to the chase, the Aussie bowlers started off really well getting rid of the top order early. They were on top at that moment but rain halted the proceedings of the game. Luckily, it was a passing shower and the game resumed soon. However, England regrouped and looked a completely different side after the break.
So, Australia the World Champions have been knocked out of the Champions Trophy and that too after a suffering a defeat at the hands of their arch rivals, England. Once again rain intervened, not once but twice. The first delay broke their momentum and by the time rain had the final say, the hosts were ahead of the DLS par score. With this, the Kangaroos have not won a single game in the Champions Trophy after winning it in 2009.
UPDATE 1840 LOCAL TIME - The news from the middle has arrived and it's not a good one as the match has been called off. ENGLAND WIN BY 40 RUNS (DLS METHOD)!
PLAY HALTED - As we mentioned earlier, the drizzle had started. Now, it has got heavier and so the umpires have decided to go off the field. England played some superb cricket in the last hour or so and hence they are well above the DLS par score for now, which is 200! The next update will be at 1830 local time.

FOUR! Century for Ben Stokes! Shorter and spinning away Stokes goes back and slashes it hard through covers. Beats the man in the deep to collect another boundary. What a knock it has been from him! He came at a time when England were struggling but played a superb counter-attacking cricket with his skipper Morgan. He truly deserves this ton.
Powerplay 3 has been signaled. Now 5 players are allowed outside the circle. It has started to drizzle.
