Rashid Khan is named the Man of the Match. He starts by saying that he is pleased with his performance. Adds that he tries to do the basics right and enjoys his game. Mentions that he tried to bowl quicker on this wicket and it paid off. He also mentions that he does not get under pressure but tries to put pressure on the opposition. Victorious Hyderabad skipper, David Warner, says that he is happy with the victory. Adds that after Mitchell Marsh was ruled out of the tournament he was a bit concerned with his bowling but is impressed with the performance of Abhishek Sharma. Further mentions that they have been working hard on their death bowling woes and today their efforts paid off. He says that they are proud that they can run quick between the wickets but with the heat out there he says that it takes a toll. Ends by saying that they need more luck with the bat as majority of their shots today found fielders.

Earlier in the day, Hyderabad were put in to bat and they began slowly but later picked up pace in their innings. Though David Warner departed, Jonny Bairstow continued the good work. A rare failure from Manish Pandey looked like Hyderabad's struggle with the spin will continue but this time they had Kane Williamson in their ranks to manage the pressure and scoring. Kane along with Bairstow started scoring briskly as Jonny went past his fifty too. Williamson though departed but not before taking Hyderabad to safe shores as they managed a par total on this slow surface.
Brilliant bowling from Hyderabad tonight. All applause to Rashid Khan as he finally got back to form with a 3-wicket haul. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, as usual, was superb with the new ball as he took a wicket in his very first over. Khaleel Ahmed though went for 43 but was brilliant at the start and surprise package was of Abhishek Sharma who did a good job with the ball for his skipper by bowling 4 overs. Except his last over he was right on the money. T Natarajan was just outstanding with his yorkers and in the end, Hyderabad went over the line because of the efforts of both their batters as well as their bowlers.
Delhi chasing a par total of 163 on this sluggish track too started watchfully and slowly as they scored only 34 runs in the Powerplay but the only difference was the wicket of Prithvi Shaw in the opening over of the chase. Then, skipper Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan combined for a 40-run stand and just when it looked like both of them would go onto play longer innings, Iyer walked back. After 4 overs, Dhawan too followed courtesy of a brilliant review from Bairstow. Hetmyer, Pant and Stoinis all failed to score the big hits or the boundaries and in the end, Delhi fall short of the target.
Finally, we have a winner without a drama. No last 5 overs onslaught, no Super Over simply nothing and we have our winner. Hyderabad open their account in this year's Indian T20 League. A complete team performance one could say.
