Right then that's it from this game of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, 2024. West Indies Women climbing right at the top of the table. The actions continue to come thick and fast with the next game of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, 2024 scheduled to be played between Australia Women vs Pakistan Women on 11th October 2024 at 2 pm GMT. You can always join us an hour early for all the updates and pre-match buildup. Until next time, Cheers.
Hayley Matthews, the victorious skipper of West Indies Women, says at the presentation that it has been a great night for them and it happened because they bowled with discipline and fielded well in the first innings. Talks about Stafanie Taylor and says that she has a niggle on the knee and she will mostly be fit before the next game as they have a few days rest after today. She further adds that they have to be on top of the game throughout the tournament from here on as the knockout stages are about to begin. She says that they are happy that they have the last game of the group and that will help them a lot in preparing for the semi-finals.
The losing skipper of Bangladesh Women, Nigar Sultana says that the side is lacking experience in such sort of tournaments and every gama is a learning curve for them. Mentions that they have one more game left and they aim to play a good brand of cricket and do something that they remain with them forever. Acknowledges that the crowd is always behind them and they feel amazing to have such unconditional support everywhere they travel.
Karishma Ramharack IS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH. She says that she is happy to contribute for the team and it feels good to win the game in the end. She adds that the wicket is good and bowling slow is working well on the surface. She further adds that girls are really happy with the result and they will have a couple of days off after this to regroup for the next game of the tournament.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier in the game, Bangladesh Women, batting first, struggled to post a competitive total, with Nigar Sultana's 39 being the top score. Despite promising starts from Dilara Akter and Sobhana Mostary, the batting order failed to deliver substantial contributions. The West Indies Women's bowling attack was outstanding, led by Karishma Ramharack's 4-wicket haul. Afy Fletcher chipped in with two scalps, while Hayley Matthews claimed one.
With a below-par score to defend, the bowlers of Bangladesh Women's were always up against it, and the West Indies Women's aggressive batting strategy made their task even more challenging. The Bangladeshi attack struggled to maintain discipline, as the opposition's batsmen seized on any scoring opportunities, denying them the chance to build pressure. Nahida Akter and Marufa Akter though managed to pick one each but that was just not enough.
Chasing a modest target, West Indies Women made a blistering start, courtesy of their explosive opening duo, who stitched together a pivotal 52-run partnership. Hayley Matthews was the primary aggressor, unleashing a barrage of boundaries, and dispatching the Bangladeshi bowlers to all parts of the ground. Hayley's relentless attack denied the opposition bowlers any control, dictating the tempo of the game and propelling West Indies to a commanding position. Stafanie Taylor played a good hand of 27 too before retiring. The concern mounts over the fitness of Taylor as she is an important clog in this Windies wheel.
With this emphatic win, West Indies Women soared to the top of the table, leaving Bangladesh Women's tournament prospects in tatters. Bangladesh's already slim chances of advancing are further diminished by the heavy defeat, as it severely damages their NRR.

Time for a drinks break. West Indies Women at the midpoint of this innings are well and truly one foot over the finish line. Sensible cricket from hereon is all they need to wrap up this one and get two crucial points in this Group B game. Stafanie Taylor was seen struggling while she was fielding as well and now she is going out retired hurt. Deandra Dottin is the new batter in her place for West Indies Women.
Ouch! Stafanie Taylor is looking in some discomfort and is unable to continue. A blow to the batting team as Stafanie Taylor is retired hurt.
