Right then, that brings the curtain down on the three-match ODI series, with Bangladesh clinching it 2-1 after a one-sided contest in the final game. Mehidy Hasan Miraz holds the winning Trophy along with his team. The focus now shifts to the T20I leg of the tour, with the opening match scheduled for October 27th in Chattogram. The action begins at 12:00 PM GMT, and we’ll be with you well before the first ball for all the pre-match build-up, expert insights, and analysis. Until then, take care and goodbye!
Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the Bangladesh skipper, is up for a chat. He says the way the openers batted helped them get a good start. Reckons it was not an easy surface, but they batted really well overall. Tells that they haven’t batted as they wanted in the past few matches, but they had a positive mindset. Adds that Rishad Hossain played exceptionally well throughout the series. Credits the team for the performance. Feels they are playing ODI after a long time and need to play regularly.
Rishad Hossain wins the PLAYER OF THE SERIES AWARD. He says that he had the support of his team members, and playing in a group helped them. Adds that he wanted to be consistent, and the team effort helped them seal the series. Closes by sharing that he wants to continue doing well for the side.
Soumya Sarkar wins the PLAYER OF THE MATCH AWARD. He says that he is playing his international match after a long period of time, and he tried to do the basic things, and he is happy that it worked out for him. Adds that he wants to thank his almighty and his family members for supporting him. Ends up saying that the crowd has been immense through the series, as he asks them to keep supporting the team.
Shai Hope, the skipper of the West Indies, says that they wanted to win the series, but it did not happen. Adds that they have a lot to learn as batters. Credits the Bangladesh openers as it has been a tough ask for the batters against spin.  Shares that they should not be critical of the players on such pitches and give them time. Mentions that it looked like a 170-180 surface, but they gave extra runs. Closes by telling that T20 is a different format, but the mindset remains the same for them, and further shares that they will get to Chattogram and assess the plans as per the pitch.
Presentation time...
Earlier, Bangladesh put in a commanding performance with the bat, posting a competitive total of 296 runs in their 50 overs. Openers Saif Hassan and Soumya Sarkar laid a strong foundation, stitching together a superb 176-run partnership for the first wicket. Contributions from Towhid Hridoy, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz ensured the hosts finished just shy of the 300-run mark. For the West Indies, Akeal Hosein was the standout performer with the ball, claiming an impressive four-wicket haul, while Alick Athanaze chipped in with a couple of crucial breakthroughs.
For Bangladesh, Nasum Ahmed and Rishad Hossain led the bowling attack with three wickets each, while Tanvir Islam and captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz contributed two wickets apiece, culminating in a strong and well-rounded performance by the home side. The ground fielding was also at par for the hosts, who held onto the catches and supported the bowling. West Indies showed great fight and application in the second game of the series, but had no answers tonight against the spin quartet of Bangladesh.
A commanding victory secures Bangladesh a 2-1 triumph in the ODI series. The West Indies’ batting lineup faltered spectacularly, being bowled out for a mere 117 runs in just 31 overs. Facing a daunting target of 297, the visitors struggled against Bangladesh’s potent spin attack. While a few batsmen managed to get starts, only Akeal Hosein crossed the 20-run threshold. Ultimately, the West Indies succumbed to a crushing defeat by 179 runs.
