That is it then and it is England who have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-game ODI series. There is still one game left and Bangladesh will be looking to avoid a whitewash, especially given their fantastic ODI form at home in the last few years. The 3rd and final ODI will be played on Monday, the 6th of March at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. That game will begin at 11.30 am IST (6 am GMT) but you can catch our build-up for the game a lot sooner. Cheers!
Jos Buttler, the captain of England says that it is a fantastic series win as Bangladesh are a formidable side at home. Claims that they tried to see how they could improve from the last game and the batters contributed in this game followed by the bowlers. Mentions that the conditions they would find here are the hardest they would face as a team and from one to eleven, the players stood up which is what they strive to achieve. Ends by saying that they spoke about adapting to conditions and when they get to Chittagong they need to assess the conditions backed by some good performances by the players.
Jason Roy (132 off 124 balls) is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his sublime century. Roy says that he has played a lot of cricket in the subcontinent and he had to dig deep with his skills in this game and it came off. Adds that it was about giving himself an opportunity and wanted to make sure that he gave himself time in the middle. Says that the way Jos Buttler played it was amazing and applauds the efforts of Moeen Ali and Sam Curran to score as freely as they did on this deck. Ends by saying that he is very happy with his performance.
Bangladesh skipper, Tamim Iqbal says that he is a bit disappointed with the way they started with the ball as there was a lot in it for the spinners. Claims that they had their chances but the missed run-out opportunity cost them and gives credit to Jason Roy and Jos Buttler for their innings. Adds that it is disappointing to lose the first series at home since 2016. Mentions that when they lose it is easy to point fingers but he does not want to do that as it is a bad performance by the team and not by any individual. Explains that when you lose three wickets in the first few overs it becomes difficult to chase a huge total and they have to have a go at some time. Reckons that they did not give up and with Shakib Al Hasan they took some time but unfortunately it didn’t work out. Ends by saying that they would like to end the series on a high and that it is disappointing to lose the series but credits England for playing really well.
The presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, Tamim Iqbal won the toss and took a surprising decision to bowl first. This proved fruitful early on as they got rid of Philip Salt but from then on, things only got worse for them. Jason Roy started punishing the bowlers and the spinners seemed to be largely ineffective as well. They did get a couple of quick wickets but then Jos Buttler joined Roy in the middle and the pair put on a century stand to put England on top of the proceedings. A couple of handy cameos from Moeen Ali and Sam Curran ensured the visitors got well above the 300-run mark. Taskin Ahmed was the standout bowler for Bangladesh as he picked up three wickets and Mehidy Hasan chipped in with a couple of wickets as well. Coming to the chase, Sam Curran broke the back of the hosts early on with three quick wickets and they never really recovered despite a few decent starts by their batters.
Bangladesh will be thoroughly disappointed with the loss and more so with their approach with the bat. They had a shaky start as Litton Das got out playing a poor shot and the likes of Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim soon followed suit. It was then a steady stand between skipper Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan that got the scoreboard ticking but they were always behind the in the chase. Tamim fell but Shakib went on to notch up a fine half-century but got out soon after. Mahmudullah and Afif Hossain too built up a decent stand and Taskin Ahmed was able to get a few boundaries away towards the end but they couldn't even manage to cross the 200-run mark which is a worrying factor.
England had the runs on the board and all they needed was a decent start with the ball. They got that and then some as Sam Curran's early blitz had the opposition reeling at 9/3 with all three wickets going to Curran himself. After that, the Bangladeshi batters showed resilience and didn't lose a wicket till the 20th over. It was Moeen Ali who got the breakthrough and then Adil Rashid bowled a lovely spell in which he took four wickets and put the visitors within touching distance. With less than 10 overs to spare, Sam Curran came back in and soon was able to get his fourth wicket and seal the game for his side with 32 balls to go.
England have sealed a big win and also the three-game series 2-0 with a game to spare, a very clinical showing from the visitors. It is the first bilateral series loss for hosts Bangladesh at home since 2016 and guess who the last team was to defeat them? Yes, it was the same opposition, England!

Sam Curran To Taijul Islam OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Sam Curran gets four wickets and England have registered a comprehensive win! Sam Curran was the one who did the initial damage with the ball and it is apt that he claims the last wicket. He bowls this on a good length and on an outside off-stump line. Taijul Islam hangs his bat out to dry and gets a faint edge towards the wicket-keeper. Jos Buttler has the easiest of catches to take behind the wicket and England have wrapped up the innings with 32 balls left and they win by 132 runs.
Mustafizur Rahman is the last man in for Bangladesh.

Sam Curran To Taskin Ahmed OUT!
OUT! DIRECT HIT! Some lazy bit of running from Taskin Ahmed and a good bit of fielding from Moeen Ali! Sam Curran bowls this short and outside the off stump. Taskin Ahmed backs away to the leg side and slaps this towards cover. Moeen Ali is quick to collect the ball and aims at the non-striker's end. He gets his throw on target and Taskin Ahmed has not grounded his bat. He has to depart and England are now just one wicket away from a series win.
Is that a run-out? Looked really close on the first instance. Taskin Ahmed laces this one to the man at extra cover and sets off for the quick single. Its a good pick-up and throw from Moeen Ali there as he scores a direct hit at the bowler's end. The replays show that Taskin was lazy in grounding his bat and that cost him his wicket. OUT is the signal on the big screen.

Sam Curran To Taskin Ahmed
Sam Curran bangs this in short and going down leg. Taskin Ahmed goes for the pull and is early into the shot. The ball hits his arm and lobs towards the keeper. Jos Buttler gets forward well and dives to hold onto the ball. They appeal for a caught behind but the umpire disagrees and Jos Buttler goes upstairs for a review. Replays show the ball has come off the forearm. Taskin Ahmed survives and England will lose a review.
