That is it from us then! Tomorrow is another single header, where New Zealand take on Pakistan at Mohali, in their attempt to seal the semi-final spot. The game begins at 1930 IST (1400 GMT). See you then! Take Care!
Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza says that the Powerplay was important. Adds that they should have played much better. Rues the fielding. Agrees that the total was not match-winning but had they fielded well, they could have made a match out of it. Mortaza admits that it is a difficult journey for them but wants his side to give its best in the remaining two matches and then see how it goes from there.
Australian captain Steven Smith starts by saying that he is happy for this win. Adds that they lost their momentum towards the end. Mentions that they need to be clinical. He admits that Australia were not good enough in the middle overs, losing wickets in clumps, which is not good in this format. He admits that travelling is taking its toll but does not want to cite it as an excuse. Admits that the pitches in this WT20 are slightly different from those in the IPL and wants his side to adjust and adapt. Stresses that they need to finish games better. Feels that playing against India would be a big challenge and adds that to beat them, Australia would have to post a big, big total.
Right then! A mixed night for Australia, doing well with both bat and ball in the first 10 but flopping in the next 10. However, they managed to get those all important 2 points and have moved to third spot in the points table. They now meet Pakistan in their next clash at Mohali, on Friday, 25th March, 2016. Bangladesh, on the other hand, are more or less out of this tournament. They need some big wins in their remaining two matches and also some other results going their way. They face India next, at this same venue, on Wednesday, March 23, 2016.
ADAM ZAMPA has been named the Man Of The Match for his wonderful bowling spell of 4-0-23-3. Says that it was good to perform tonight. Also says that winning was important. On playing in such a crowded stadium, states that it is challenging. About his bowling, mentions that it was good to bowl with variations and get those important wickets. Ends by saying he is happy to travel and play on different pitches.
It was Mustafizur Rahman who swung the game back for Bangladesh. Shakib came back late to pick up 3 wickets and cause some wobble. But the former could have been used with the new ball. Interestingly, Mortaza bowled only the solitary over. Injury concerns?
Bangladesh tried hard with the ball, in fact the way they came back was brilliant. But their fielding let them down. A couple of chances early on and even towards the end. They have to work on that. This loss will hurt them but that is not the end of the world for Bangladesh.
From 115/2, Australia slipped to 152/7, more due to their eagerness to finish things off quickly rather than their weakness against spin. There were nerves in that Aussie camp during the final moments of the run chase but eventually, they pulled it off. Their first couple of points in this WT20.
Nervy win for Australia. They started off like a train on fire in a chase of 157 with Khawaja showing the world how classy batting can also fetch you quick runs in T20Is. But then, as always, a collapse was around the corner and the same thing happened tonight as well.
