That's all we have from this encounter. New Zealand, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan are the semifinalists of the ICC U19 World Cup 2020. Semi-Final 1 will be between the arch-rivals on 4th February while Semi-Final 2 between Bangladesh and New Zealand will be on 6th February. We look forward to your company for future games. Cheers!
Pakistan skipper, Rohail Nazir says that he is very happy and thanks the Almighty. Adds that they dropped early catches otherwise the score would have been a lot lesser than 190. Praises his spinners for pulling things back in the middle overs. On the surface, he shares that it was spinning and hence their plan was to rotate the strike in the middle overs. He is ecstatic that the openers laid a strong platform and that was the main reason for this smooth victory. Tells that they have to play good cricket against India. Thanks the crowd for motivating them in the middle overs and is expecting them to come again in the semi-final.
Afghanistan skipper, Farhan Zakhil starts by congratulating the Pakistan team for the way they played. Adds that the pitch was very good but the Afghan middle order didn't take enough responsibility. States that 190 was a good enough score for the bowlers and is disappointed that the pacers didn't provide the initial breakthroughs.
Player of the Match is Mohammad Huraira! The young man says that his feeling right now is something that he cannot describe in words and thanks the Almighty. Adds that the plan was to wait for the bad balls and this was the talk in the dressing room. Mentions that there was some spin on offer but in his mind strike rotation was the key. On why he admires Kane Williamson, Huraira replies that he likes the way the Kiwi bats and the way he puts away the bad balls. On facing India in the semi-final, Huraira admits that it will be a high-pressure game but they would like to treat it as just another match.
Earlier in the day, Afghanistan were dismissed for 189. They got a good start but after that crumbled as Pakistan tightened the screws. The trio of spinners for Pakistan were crucial as they kept up the pressure while also picking up wickets at regular intervals.
As for Afghanistan, things could have been very different for them. Huraira was dropped on 3 runs by Abid Mohammadi and that severely affected them. Catches win matches but this one was dropped and Huraira made them pay. Shafiqullah Ghafari and Noor Ahmad tried their best to restrain the Pakistanis but the target was just too small to defend. However, the bowling of Noor Ahmad was a shining light for them and he is one to watch out for in the future.
The run chase for Pakistan started brilliantly as Haider Ali and Mohammad Huraira blazed to a 61-run opening stand. Ali departed but skipper Rohail Nazir came in and stitched another 50-run stand with Huraira. There were a couple of hiccups in the middle as Pakistan lost 3 wickets in the span of 10 runs (including the Mankading of Mohammad Huraira) but Mohammad Haris and Qasim Akram ensured there were no more threats as they made an unbeaten 63-run stand to guide their team to a comfortable victory.
Victory for Pakistan!!! It is a significant step for them and the whole squad comes out to join Qasim Akram and Mohammad Haris in celebration! They have richly deserved this win and now, they will be facing arch-rivals and the favourites to win this tournament, India, in the semi-finals!!!

PAKISTAN WIN BY 6 WICKETS! They are into the semi-final of the ICC U19 World Cup yet again, for the 9th time in 13 editions. Tossed up ball around off, Haris quietly flicks it towards square leg and collects the winning run. Smiles in their camp and Afghanistan are looking distraught.

Short in length outside off, Haris tries his best to connect with his pull shot but misses.
Powerplay 3 is underway! However, it won't matter much as only 7 more runs are needed and if anything the Afghanistan players would want to stay close in.

Almost kissed the outside edge. A length ball around off angling in. Once again there is some visible extra bounce, Haris tries to play late and it whizzes past the outside edge. A stifled appeal made by the keeper but nothing doing.
