Onto the Test matches - There's just one thing left to do now, and that's for Shai Hope to go on and lift the trophy. The Windies players rejoice and pose for a group photo as well. Right then, after Sri Lanka took the rain-marred ODI series 1-0, West Indies have roared back to clinch the T20I series 2-1 and level up the multi-format series overall. Next up, the two sides will go up against each other in a two-match Test series, beginning on Thursday, June 25, in North Sound, Antigua. That game will begin at 2 pm GMT, but you can tune in much sooner to catch our build-up. Until then, take care and goodbye!
The winning skipper of West Indies - Shai Hope starts off saying that he feels great as the supporters come in large numbers, and he feels happy to give something in return. Adds that there is not much time between the games, so it's important to learn quickly from the matches and implement them in the next one. Regarding the plans for the World Cup, he says that each game and each series will be very important to them, and they will do their best to play good cricket and win matches in succession.
Let's now hear from Sri Lanka's captain - Kusal Mendis starts by applauding the batting unit, especially Dunith Wellalage, and reckons that they did well in the series but missed a few chances. Adds that he was happy with the score on the board, given the nature of the pitch, and lauds more praise on Dunith's all-round ability.
Player of the Match & Series - Shamar Joseph is adjudged as the POTM for his stellar five-wicket haul, and also the POTS for picking up a total of 11 wickets in the three-match T20I series. Shamar, on the reason behind his breathtaking performance, says that he tries to be consistent with his bowling and also gives credit to the bowling staff who work day in and day out to make the player do better. He adds that he always tries to execute the plan he's been assigned to do, and he feels today he did well. About his body workload, he says that he is naturally fit as he continuously works on his body. Bowling quick in natural for him as he wants to become the best in the country.
The Presentation ceremony...
Recapping the first innings - Shai Hope won the toss and opted to bowl first, despite watching his side fail to chase in the previous game. Sri Lanka lost their skipper early, after which Pathum Nissanka and Kamil Mishara built a steady stand. However, they kept losing wickets throughout the middle phase, going from 51/1 to 111/6. However, in the final few overs, Dunith Wellalage started to fire and played a handy cameo of 41 runs, before Shamar Joseph bowled a fine final over, picking up 3 wickets in the over, and 5 in total in the game as the Lankans finished with 169 runs on the board.
The Lankans pay for fielding lapses - For the majority of the chase, Sri Lanka were ahead in the game and seemed favorites to clinch the series. Dunith Wellalage handed them the early breakthrough and then Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga wreaked havoc in the middle phase by picking up wickets in a heap. However, Eshan Malinga dropped Sherfane Rutherford off his own bowlinga nd then Dasun Shanaka put him down at long on as well, allowing a big partnership to flourish. In the end, it was Dushmantha Chameera who conceded back-to-back overs, where he went for 20-plus runs that proved to be the real difference.
The middle order comes clutch - After losing skipper Shai Hope in the very first over, West Indies needed some sort of a spark, which was provided by Shimron Hetmyer as he stitched together a solid stand with Brandon King. However, once King got out, it triggered a mini collapse and the hosts slipped from 52/1 to 53/4. Then came the game-changing stand between Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford, worth 81 runs and that put the game in the balance. Powell got out towards the end and West Indies still needed 36 off 18 balls, but Jason Holder smashed 3 sixes in the 19th over to put the game within the hosts' reach. Rutherford did get a couple of lives, but he made good use of them to score an unbeaten 54 and even hit the winning runs.
A record-breaking night for the Windies - History has been made today at Sabina Park as West Indies notch up their highest successful chase at the venue, and not only that but they did it under pressure, sealing the T20I series 2-1. Also, according to the on-air commentators, this is the first bilateral T20I series win for West Indies since 2024. Spare a though for Sri Lanka, who fought back in the second game and seemed ahead in this game as well, but it just wasn't meant to be.

Dasun Shanaka To Sherfane Rutherford
That's it, West Indies have done it! Sherfane Rutherford takes the single and that will be enough for the Windies to get across the line. Full toss from Shanaka, just outside off. Rutherford tries to slog it away to get the win with some style, but miscues the shot. The ball loops and drops in the vacant mid off region, where the batter gets a single. West Indies beat Sri Lanka by five wickets and win the series 2-1.

FOUR! That will bring up FIFTY for Sherfane Rutherford and level the scores as well. Full-length delivery, outside off, Rutherford plays the cover drive but uses his bottom hand to take the aerial route, over cover. Wanindu Hasaranga runs to his left from the sweeper cover region and tries to flick it, but fails to get the job done completely. The ball drops and spins away to hit the boundary ropes.

A dot to start! Full and slow, wide outside off, Sherfane Rutherford tries to spank it through cover, but gets beaten on the inside edge due to lack of pace.
Wow, what a difference 24 hours makes. Last night, Dushmantha Chameera was the hero for Sri Lanka, picking up 3 for just 9 runs, and tonight he's gone for 64 runs in his 4 overs, and his last couple of overs have all but cost Sri Lanka the game. Just 5 runs to defend and Kusal Mendis tosses the ball to Dasun Shanaka. Are we in for another surprise?

It is the leg break to which Ackeem Auguste leans on to flick but misses and wears it on the pads. Nothing on UltraEdge and Ball Tracking shows the stumps as missing and that's a review lost for Sri Lanka. It stays Not Out.
