Inn Break
Right then, that is it from this game as Mumbai makes an easy task of Bangalore and defeats them by 7 wickets. The excitement of the Women's T20 League continues with Gujarat taking on Delhi in match number 10 tomorrow at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). Join us earlier for all the pre-match build-up. Until then, cheers!
Amelia Kerr is the player of the match and she says it always feels great after a win and credits the side for playing well today. Adds that she loves batting and putting in the hard yard in training with the bat and she believes in her abilities to bat well. Mentions that it is tough to bowl the last over that too with players such as Ellyse Perry out to bat but she enjoys such pressure and luckily it went well for her today.
The skipper of Mumbai Natalie Sciver-Brunt says they reviewed the game pretty well and she is really happy with the result. She continues that they would have been happy with anything under 150. She also states that the wickets change under the lights and it comes nicely onto the bat. She also praises her bowling unit, especially in the power play. Ends up saying that Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews were outstanding tonight as they spoke about putting the pressure back on the opposition and they did exactly that.
Smriti Mandhana the skipper of Bangalore says that they failed to make the start that they had planned. Adds that it was a good wicket to bat first but they failed to capitalize. She reckons that 165 would have been a good target to propose but they failed to bat well. Mentions that they have to work on the bowling in the line of stumps. Also mentions that Ellyse Perry was not a hundred percent fit today but she played exceptionally well. Ends up saying that they will learn from the mistake and make a comeback.
Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, after being asked to bat first, Bangalore put up a below-par performance with the bat in front of their fans and crawled their way to 131 after 20 overs. The top order failed miserably and it was all about Ellyse Perry for them. Ellyse Perry scored 44 while she was helped by Georgia Wareham who also batted well and scored 27. Other batters couldn't contribute much and the team suffered as a result. Bowling from Mumbai was lethal, to say the least. Skipper Natalie Sciver-Brunt and Pooja Vastrakar took a couple each while, Saika Ishaque and Issy Wong took one each as well.
The bowlers were put under pressure straight away and were not able to bounce back from the onslaught by the Mumbai openers. Renuka Singh, Sophie Molineux and Sophie Devine were taken to the cleaners by Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews up front. Sophie Devine did manage to break through as she removed Yastika Bhatia in her first over. There wasn't much to enjoy for the bowlers as the batters of Mumbai kept the tempo high throughout and never let the bowlers of Bangalore put them under any sort of pressure. Sophie Devine, Georgia Wareham and Shreyanka Patil took a wicket each and that was it in terms of bowling from the girls in Red and black of Bangalore.
Chasing down an in-between total set by Bangalore, their opponents Mumbai were on top of it from the get-go. The openers came out all guns blazing and smashed away 60 runs in the first 6 overs taking out the sting from this game. Mumbai were off the blocks in a flash and they never let Bangalore dream of a miracle against them in this game. The opening pair added 45 for Mumbai. Mumbai did lose a couple quickly but the flow of runs was always in check from the batters. Every batter did well and scored at a blistering rate. The intent from the batters of Mumbai was clearly to play on the front foot and that turned out to be the decisive factor in this game. Amelia Kerr was the pick of the lot as she was sublime with her bat and she scored 40 without even breaking a drop of sweat.
Never lost two on a trot and they keep the tradition up and running as it is the team in Blue and Gold that comes out on top in this classico. Mumbai defeats Bangalore in their backyard by 7 wickets

Strategic break! It is a much-needed break for Bangalore as they genuinely need some assistance from the coaching staff. They need a couple of wickets at least to make something happen in their favour. On the other hand, Mumbai batters have started exceptionally and now they just have to execute the same plan of action.
