The hosts, on the other hand, have Bangladesh coming to play a series, IF THE ISSUES BETWEEN THE PLAYERS AND BOARD RESOLVES. That series is set to begin on November 3, 2019 with the first T20I to be played in Delhi. We will love to have your company for that game. Till then Happy Diwali in advance. TAKE CARE!
That's it from this Test series then. The visitors from here play England at home on Boxing day. Interesting to see if they can recover from this hammering from the Indians by then.
The winning skipper, Virat Kohli terms the win as an amazing one. States that the bowlers are doing things which does not happen off the surface. Believes great mindset helps them perform like that. Adds that he is proud of the team. Says that seeing the pacers steaming in, spinners bowling consistently feels good. Kohli says that to be the best side in the world, they knew that they need to be multi-dimensional. Adds that it's all about team efforts. Points that the side does not mind playing an extra bowler instead of playing an extra batsman. Adds that the side has great belief and that they can win anywhere in the world. States that the side wants to be the best side in the world.
ROHIT SHARMA IS MAN OF THE MATCH AS WELL AS MAN OF THE SERIES. The new Indian Test opener starts by saying that he is thankful for getting the opportunity at the top. States that he will take a lot of confidence from the series as an opener. Adds that its a great start for him and he would love to carry on. Adds that when he started opening in 2013 in ODIs, he realized that the opener needs to show some discipline early on. Believes that the management, the coach and the skipper supported him well and that's what helps the player do better. Points that he backs himself for getting those big scores.
The South African skipper, Faf du Plessis starts by saying that the frustrating part for them was that they started well with the bat in the first innings of the first Test but things went downward from there. Congratulates the Indians for dominating all the three Tests. On the Indian bowling attack, the Protea skipper says that in 2015, there were spinning tracks but this time around things are different. Adds that the pitches are perfect for Test cricket. Credits the Indian bowlers for being relentless. Says that the Indian seamers bowled the stumps line and that's why they were successful. Believes that the South Africans were not able to do that consistently. On positives from the tour, Faf says that a lot of young players are coming in. Adds that the series has been tough for them but they will try to compete next time. Adds that touring India has always been tough and the stats speak for themselves.
Ravi Shastri is there for the interview. Shastri says that the bowling has improved so much that they have taken the pitch out of the equation. Adds that once they have taken the 20 wickets, their batting is so good that they focus on the 20 wickets along with points. On Rohit Sharma and Rahane, Ravi says that Rahane was not going anywhere from the middle order and he needed to rediscover his touch. Adds that Rohit did well as an opener. He knew when to leave the ball, when to defend and when to attack. On Shahbaz Nadeem, Shastri says that he is very impressed with him and says that the first wicket he got was a spinner's delight. Further says that even him in his prime was not able to do what Nadeem did. Says that it is a team effort and there are 6 to 7 players who will put their hand up and contribute for the team.
Mohammed Shami and Mayank Agarwal are in for a chat with Manjrekar. Shami says that the pacers are always ready with the responsibility. Adds that the Indian skipper gives them a lot of confidence by allowing them to have fielders wherever they want to. Says that they try to put the balls in good lines and lengths. Agarwal adds that he was happy to get a debut in Australia. Credits the bowlers for picking 20 wickets in almost every game. On the Protea batters struggling against the Indian quicks, Agarwal says that he enjoys the sight of the opposition batters hopping to play the Indian bowlers. Shami says that everyone works hard on their fitness and that has helped them. He further adds that they have been born and brought up in these conditions so that makes things easier for them. States that the everyone in the team enjoys each other's success.
Let's rewind the series then. It was all about Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal in the first Test. Dean Elgar and Quinton de Kock scored centuries but that was it. After another ton from Rohit Sharma, the Indian bowlers bundled the visitors for a mere 191 runs to win the Test by 203 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin got a 7-fer in the first innings and Shami got a fifer in the second. In the second Test, it was time for a Virat Kohli show as he raked up a double ton while Agarwal scored back-to-back Test match centuries. With contributions from Pujara, Rahane and Jadeja, India yet again posted a huge total of 601 runs before the declaration. And then the Indian bowlers took the responsibility upon them and once again bundled the South Africans for 275 runs which could've been lot less if not for the 109-run stand between Maharaj and Philander for the 9th wicket. Indian skipper Kohli enforced the follow-on there too and the bowlers this time combined together to bundle them out for 189 runs and winning the game by an innings and 137 runs. We already know what has happened here in the final game.
Second innings' Shami was at it again as he picked up 3 wickets while Yadav picked up 2. Jadeja and Ashwin had one wicket to their name too. Nadeem came to bowl the second over of the morning session of Day 4 and picked up the two wickets to seal the game to complete the whitewash.
Then again, it was all about the Indian bowling. The top-order collapsed, Dean Elgar had to retire hurt after getting hit on the helmet with Theunis de Bruyn becoming the first-ever concussion substitute for the South Africans. George Linde and Dane Piedt frustrated the Indians with a brief stand but they eventually got out. De Bruyn along with Nortje made sure that the game goes to Day 4. But eventually India took just 12 balls to wrap up the things.
Then came the Indian bowling. Two pacers bouncing the openers out before bad weather interrupted the second day's play. Day 3 started with Umesh Yadav removing the visitor's skipper Faf du Plessis in the first over. Then, a 91-run stand was the only positive that happened for the Proteas in the first innings. Hamza after getting to his maiden half ton departed and the visitors were bundled for a paltry total of 162 runs. Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with 3 scalps while Shami, Jadeja and debutant Nadeem picking two apiece. Kohli then enforced the follow-on, 8th time as a captain, most by an Indian.
The bowling for the Proteas started with a positive note with Rabada and Ngidi troubling the Indians at the top. But once Rohit and Rahane got their eyes in, they hammered all the Protea bowlers. After the eary wickets, the Protea bowlers looked listless. Debutant George Linde got 4 wickets to his name but not before giving away 133 runs in 31 overs.
Let's talk about how the Test started. Faf du Plessis, the Protea skipper arrived for the Toss with Temba Bavuma for some luck. Well, no luck as Kohli won the Toss and opted to bat first. The decision looked to backfire when Rabada struck twice to leave India reeling at 39/3. And then the two Mumbai lads got together and stitched a mammoth 267-run stand between them. Rohit Sharma went on to score his maiden double ton while Rahane got to a century at home after 3 years. Ravindra Jadeja scored a half ton too but Umesh Yadav's 5 sixes in 10 balls added insult to injury for the Proteas and helped India post 497 runs before Virat declared the innings.
Bruised! Whitewashed! Beaten! Hammered! Dominated! Unbeaten! The first three words describe the Proteas Test series and the last three describes the the way the Indians have played. Another 40 points for India in the ICC World Test Championship as they consolidate their position further at the top (240 points). A big zero in front of the name of the visitors in the same points table, after playing 3 games.

Shahbaz Nadeem To Lungi Ngidi OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! India finish the game off in just two overs to end the series with a whitewash and it has happened in an unusual manner. Full delivery on off, Ngidi drives this towards the mid on region but it hits Nortje flush on the wrists and lobs up in the air. Nadeem catches it off the rebound and it is given out. Nortje looks in serious pain out there. The Indian players check on him whether he is fine or not. INDIA WIN THE MATCH BY AN INNINGS AND 202 RUNS.
Lungi Ngidi is the last man in.

Shahbaz Nadeem To Theunis de Bruyn OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT! Excellent keeping from Saha here. This is the reason that Kohli regards him as the best wicketkeeper in the country. Flatter delivery outside off which kept very low, Theunis looks to cut this one but it goes off the bottom edge towards Saha. He bends down and takes an excellent catch. The umpire gives it out immediately. One more wicket to go for the Indians to wrap up the series.

The Indian players walk out to the middle. The two overnight batters, Theunis de Bruyn and Anrich Nortje walk are in too. Weather report - It is a perfect day to play cricket as it is bright and sunny at the moment.
Pitch report - Sunil Gavaskar is there near the pitch. He says that the cracks have opened up a little but that will not affect the game. Further says that the South African batters were looking to get to the pitch of the ball but were getting out between bat and pad. Further says that the Protea bowlers were bowling too short. Adds that the Indian bowlers have been so good that they have not been able to cope with it.
2 deliveries? 20 deliveries? 200 deliveries? How long Day 4 will last? Any chance for a South African redemption? Doesn't look like that way? Then, any possibility of a draw? Yes, the two batters at the crease dig in, play and play and keep playing. And then rain to their rescue. Anything is possible in cricket. What will happen? We will find out soon. Welcome to our coverage of Day 4.
... Day 4, Session 1 ...
Now, just two more wickets. How long will the Indians take to get them? Can the remaining two wickets frustrate the Indians? We will have the answers on Day 4. Join us for that at 0930 local (0400 GMT).
Murali Kartik has got debutant Shahbaz Nadeem for an interview. He says that it is nice to make a debut on his home ground after years of hard work in the domestic circuit. On receiving the Test cap, says that he was excited and emotional on getting the cap. Further goes on to say, that when the match started, he started focusing more on the match and how to bowl on this wicket. On his first wicket, Nadeem points out that it was a typical wicket for a left-arm spinner as he deceived Bavuma with the flight. Adds that he enjoys playing with Ashwin and Jadeja as he gets to learn a lot from them. Adds that till the ball was hard, there was a bit for the spinners but once the ball gets old, it becomes easier for the batsmen.
In the bowling department for the Indians, it was the second innings specialist, Mohammed Shami who was at it again as he picked up three wickets. He got good support from Umesh Yadav who got two. Jadeja picked up two as well while Ashwin finally got one in the match too.
The start in the second innings for the Proteas was same as the first. The Indian pacers demolished the top order of the visitors to leave them tattering at 36 for 5. Dean Elgar was hit on the helmet by a bouncer off Umesh Yadav and we had a concussion substitute as de Bruyn replaced Elgar for the second innings. George Linde and Dane Piedt once again troubled the Indians for a while but they eventually fell.
It was all about the Indian bowlers in the morning session as they pegged the Protea innings with regular wickets. Umesh Yadav picked up three while Shami, Nadeem and Jadeja got two wickets in bundling out the visitors.
The day started with Umesh Yadav picking up an early wicket in the morning. Hamza and Bavuma stitched a decent partnership but once that stand was broken, the South African innings fell apart. Linde along with Nortje frustrated the Indian bowlers for a while but the hosts eventually bundled them out and enforced a follow-on. This is the 8th time that Virat Kohli has enforced the follow-on, most by an Indian captain.
So the light is fading further, the umpire takes the bails off and we are off. STUMPS ON DAY 3. 16 wickets. One would think that India have batted too. Well, not really. All of the wickets fell are of the visitors. 8 of the first innings and 8 in the second. No challenge from the Protea batters in the final innings of the Test series. Just two more wickets for the Indians to complete a whitewash.
