Inn Break
Right then, that is it from this rather one-sided affair where the Rajasthan Royals keep the Chennai Super Kings at the bottom. Next up is a huge clash in the context of playoffs qualification as Mumbai Indians take on Delhi Capitals on 21st May, Wednesday in Wankhede. That will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT), but as you know, you can join us early for all the build-up to the match. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
Akash Madhwal is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his excellent bowling spell.
Sanju Samson, the victorious skipper of Rajasthan Royals, says that it feels good to win the last game, and they did think about setting a target rather than risk the chase at one stage. Mentions that they have a young bowling lineup which is missing a couple of key bowlers, but it was brilliant to see the likes of Madhwal performing. Further adds that Madhwal worked very closely with Shane Bond, and eventually that has provided dividends. Mentions that it is difficult to win IPL because the game keeps changing, and even without a real difference in quality of the sides, the little things matter, and they will look to come back stronger. On young Vaibhav, he says that he has no words for him, especially that century in Jaipur, and it isn't slogging, it's proper batting, and even in this game, he showed great maturity in the middle overs.
Presentation Time...
Yashasvi Jaiswal is up for a quick chat. He says that the match has been pretty good for them, and he has enjoyed his batting out there. Adds that there have been a couple of injuries in the team, and the addition of Sanju Samson was a huge boost for them in these last matches. States that they will take good confidence from these wins going forward. Mentions that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played really well, a mature inning and carried himself very well, even after the Powerplay, and it has been amazing to see him batting throughout the tournament. Further adds that the bowlers bowled really well in the death overs in the first inning, and they have made their strategies, which they executed perfectly there.
MS Dhoni, the CSK skipper, says that looking at the amount of runs they had in the Powerplay was impressive, but then the wickets column was on the negative side. Adds that the way Dewald Brevis played, it breathed new life into their innings, but they could have done better in the death overs. On Anshul Kamboj, Dhoni says that he is someone who can get a bit of movement and also can spear in those yorkers and is pleased to see him do well in the tough overs. On the next generation of players, Dhoni says that consistency is key and goes on to say that these guys can get the big hit at any stage of the game, and they need to back themselves and try and finish games off.
Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand, once again struggled to execute their plans with the ball - a recurring theme in what's been a forgettable season. Anshul Kamboj provided an early breakthrough, but they couldn’t capitalise on it. The spinners couldn’t create much pressure either, and though Ravichandran Ashwin and Noor Ahmad picked up three wickets between them, the damage had already been done. It was another disappointing outing for the Men in Yellow, capping off a season they'd rather forget.
Earlier in the game, CSK managed to put up a competitive total, thanks to crucial contributions from Ayush Mhatre, Brevis, and Dube. However, they couldn’t quite shift gears in the death overs and fell short of the explosive finish they would’ve hoped for. Yudhvir impressed with the ball, claiming three important wickets, while Hasaranga kept things tight in the middle overs with a tidy spell and a crucial scalp. Deshpande added one to his tally, and Madhwal wrapped things up with a fine three-wicket haul to keep the CSK batters in check.
The Rajasthan Royals openers got off to a blazing start, with Jaiswal setting the tone early with a brisk 36. After his dismissal, it was young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi who stepped up, forging a brilliant 98-run partnership with skipper Sanju Samson. The teenager continued his fine form with another classy fifty, but both he and Samson fell in the same over, causing a few jitters in the dugout. However, Dhruv Jurel stepped up when it mattered, playing a fiery cameo to guide RR home comfortably, finally breaking their jinx while chasing.
Rajasthan Royals cruise to a commanding victory! They've done the double over Chennai Super Kings this season, and for the first time ever, the Men in Yellow are staring at a bottom-place finish in IPL history.

OUT! TIMBER! Another twist in the tale? Noor Ahmad tosses the ball up a bit full and hangs it slightly outside off. Riyan Parag thinks it is the googly that is going to turn away, and reaches out to play with the spin. However, the ball holds its line and takes the inside edge before crashing into the stumps, and the CSK spinners are keeping their side with an outside chance here. STRATEGIC BREAK! Rajasthan Royals are well ahead in this chase, as they need 50 runs in the last six overs, but they have lost two wickets in the last over, and that too of both set batters. Now, two new batters will be on the crease for them, and this is the phase where the Royals have faltered in many chases throughout the tournament. On the contrary, it was looking like a one-sided chase when Samson and Sooryavanshi were batting, but Ravichandran Ashwin brought CSK back in the game with two crucial strikes. Now, they need a couple more wickets and they will think to put more pressure on the batters of RR. Will the Royals go past this time and get a win, or will CSK register a win to avoid being last in the points table? The final interesting phase is ahead, and with that, Dhruv Jurel comes out to bat.

Ravichandran Ashwin To Vaibhav Sooryavanshi OUT!
OUT! TAKEN! Ravichandran Ashwin with a double whammy! He gets rid of both the set batters in this over, and just might have given a little bit of hope for his team. He slows it up, full and around middle, turns away a bit. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi clears his front leg out to slog it across the line but loses his shape completely. The ball takes the top edge and goes in the air towards point, where Ravindra Jadeja backtracks a bit and pouches it safely. Strategic Break! Rajasthan Royals are cruising through the chase at the moment. Just one wicket down for 85 runs. And with a further 103 required in the next 11 overs, more often than not, you'd go with the batting side. However, CSK have plenty of overs of spin left, and if their spin trio can string a few good overs together, things could change pretty quickly. Let's see how the middle phase pans out.

Anshul Kamboj To Yashasvi Jaiswal OUT!
OUT! KNOCKED HIM OVER! Anshul Kamboj gets the big wicket, and the quick cameo of Yashasvi Jaiswal comes to an end as he goes for 36(19). On a good length and around off, gets it to move away a bit. Jaiswal clears out his front leg, gives himself room, and looks to slog it to the leg side. He misses the line of the ball, seems to lose his balance, and thus the ball goes past the bottom part of his bat and hits the top of the off stump. A dream wicket for the bowler, and RR are 37/1.

FOUR! Rajasthan Royals and Yashasvi Jaiswal are underway in this chase with a streaky boundary but they won't mind it all! Khaleel starts with a hard-length ball, around middle and leg, swings back in. Jaiswal instantly looks to swipe it across but gets cramped up for room and manages to get it from his gloves. The ball goes to the right of the diving keeper and to the deep fine leg fence for a boundary. This will go as a half-chance.
