Australia Women beat Netherlands Women by 98 runs
Asian rivalry up next - Well, those were some very short and sweet interviews. That's because everyone is in a hurry to wrap things up. Australia Women find themselves back on top of the points table but will want to get one more win at least, to solidify their qualification for the semis. They meet Pakistan next, on Tuesday, 23rd June, 2026 in Leeds. The Dutch, though not officially knocked out yet, will aim to keep improving in search for their maiden win. They take on South Africa next, after a bit of a gap, on Thursday, 25th June, 2026, in Bristol. As far as the current situation is concerned, Bangladesh and Pakistan are ready to lock horns in a battle for Asian supremacy. The first ball is scheduled to be bowled at 1.30 pm GMT, but our buildup has already begun, with Bangladesh electing to bat first on a used surface. Do hop into that matchcentre for all the action. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
A good win - The victorious skipper of Australia Women, SOPHIE MOLINEUX, says it is a good win for Australia and gives full credit to the Netherlands for the way they played. She adds that she is pleased to see her side post a big score and it was enjoyable to be out in the middle and compete against the Dutch team. Speaking about the bowling attack (when asked that everyone wants to bowl and if that's a problem), Molineux describes it as a good headache to have rather than a problem. She explains that they are simply trying to find the right option at the right time. Sophie further says that they could not get a breakthrough for a long period, but the beauty of having so many bowling options is that she can cycle through them and identify what works best on the day.
Learning from the best - The captain of Netherlands Women, BABETTE DE LEEDE, says it is a massive moment both for the team and for her personally, as this was her 100th WT20I game. She tells that playing against the best team in the world does not get any better than this for her side. She describes it as a huge opportunity and adds that being able to play against Australia and learn from them is an incredible experience. de Leede also speaks warmly about the support in the stands, saying it is special to have home support present. She adds that the fans were loud throughout the game and thanks them for their backing.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - BETH MOONEY - 74 (42) - Mooney says she is fine and shares that she experienced a bit of back spasm, hence retired hurt. She adds that retiring hurt was merely a precaution, joking that she is not used to so much bus travel, but assures everyone that she is all good. Reflecting on her innings, Mooney says that as an opening batter, her job is to score runs, and she is pleased to do that well. She highlights the two strong partnerships she shared with Georgia Voll and Ashleigh Gardner, and also praises the bowlers for doing a great job.
Batting statement - That's what the Aussies did after losing the toss early on. They were put into bat under overcast conditions, but the batters were helped by some loose bowling. They made full use of those gifts and even played some ultra-aggressive shots, which led to the fall of wickets. They might have lost more wickets had it not been for the sloppy Dutch fielding. Beth Mooney and Ashleigh Gardner found their form back with fluent half centuries, but more importantly, Australia will be concerned about Mooney's fitness, given the tough games ahead. Towards the end, Georgia Wareham played a nice cameo, but it will be fair enough to say, that the batters just did not get a good bowling opposition in front. Let's see what the interviews have in store for us.
Big win, or issues dwarfed? To be really honest, we will have to wait and see two big sides go against each other on this ground and on this deck, and then make a verdict. The scorecard does say that Australia Women managed to pick only 3 wickets, but the same scorecard also says that they conceded runs only at slightly above 6 an over. Sophie Molineux exercised plenty of options, with as many as 8 bowlers being used. Lucy Hamilton and Kim Garth were threatening with the new ball, but once the ball lost its shine, it just stopped doing everything. It is easy to say that the number 1-ranked team should have picked more wickets but the deck was nothing more than a road. On that, the bowling was pretty much consistent, while the fielding, barring a dropped catch, was more or less decent.
A batting beauty - Perhaps that's what describes this scorecard at best. Australia Women scored runs aplenty while with the ball, struggled to pick up wickets regularly, after the new-ball burst. The target was a big one for the Team In Orange, but the fact that the deck was playing well was seen as an opportunity by them to bed down and score some runs. Skipper Babette de Leede continued her good form, scoring her second half century in this World Cup, still the only player from Netherlands to score a fifty in a Women's T20 World Cup. Sterre Kalis, technically their best batter, played a solid hand in their 96-run stand for the third wicket, but missed out on her half century. A critic might say that with so many wickets in hand, Netherlands could and should have played a bit more freely, trying to put more pressure on the Aussies, but just like Rome was not build in a day, it takes time for quality, consistency and talent to seep through. The openers found it tough against the new ball, but after that, once the ball stopped moving around, the batters were quite comfortable.
Game lost, hearts won - That is what the Dutch would be saying to themselves. The win predictor did not give them too much of a chance before this match but they did not care. They gave a few too many runs with the ball and then had a poor start with the bat, but ended the game reasonably well, putting up a respectable score. The scorecard indicates a drubbing but giving only 3 wickets to one of the world's best bowling attacks is no small achievement.

Run out chance missed. Slower one, on a length around middle and leg, Robine Rijke pushes it away tamely on the leg side, beside the pitch and tries to bring Babette de Leede on strike for the final ball. Annabel Sutherland rushes towards the ball, picks it up, turns but misses her shy at the bowling end. A direct hit would have found Robine short.

Annabel Sutherland To Sterre Kalis OUT!
OUT! BOWLED! Sutherland breaks the stand in style! She charges in but takes the pace off, landing it on a teasing length in line with the stumps. Kalis comes down the track looking for a mighty heave across the line, but she is far too early into the shot. The ball sneaks through and crashes into the stumps. A splendid 96-run partnership comes to an end. Robine Rijke walks in next, playing her 100th T20I game.
Final over of this Warm up match then. Sadly, that's what we have to call it. Annabel Sutherland will finish things off. 2-0-16-0 so far.

DROPPED! Well, that's a double surprise. One, because Australia Women have been reasonably sharp in the field but second because Sutherland can pluck anything out of anywhere these days. DRINKS BREAK. If you are a cricket fanatic, this is boring. If you are an Aussie fan, this is frustrating. But if you are a Dutch fan, you are celebrating. This is batting of a high quality, against one of the best bowling attacks in the world. Yes, you might be at the South Pole with the target at North Pole, but sometimes, climbing the Vindhyas can also be considered an effort as equivalent to topping the Everest. It is a match of personal gains. Netherlands Women, looking for half centuries and a respectable finish, while the Aussies, looking to be tested and searching to plug all kinds of loopholes. EDGY FOUR! Short and around off, Babette gets back and tries to cut but edges it behind. It's fine of short third and races away to the fence.
DRINKS BREAK. Already a no contest? Don't think many did not expect this either at the start. The Dutch look a bit determined, but they are being hurried up by Australia's extreme pace. While they themselves sprayed the ball in their bowling Powerplay, the Aussies have been right on the money, determined to be as clinical as ever. From Netherlands' point of view, all eyes will be on Sterre Kalis, who can be considered as their best batter, with excellent footwork and conviction. While one part will hope for a good batting show and a respectable total put on board, the other part will also wish that the batters give the Aussies a run for their money by playing some shots. It will be interesting to see how do the Aussie spinners fare on this deck. Here's Georgia Wareham.

FOUR! The cheers grow louder! Jeez, that's a quality shot. Garth is searching for swing, hence is keeping the length full. But this time, she just kind of overcooks it and bowls it a bit wider as well, outside off. Babette de Leede stands tall and punches it in the gap between cover and point, earning her first boundary.

WIDE. Ohh.. rough call? Maybe the bowler in me felt so. Lucy Hamilton comes from around the wicket and tries to take the ball further away from the batter. She pitches it outside off and to the naked eye, it seemed like while the ball moved away, after it was left alone, it was inside the wide guideline. Will have to check the replays.

Kim Garth To Heather Siegers OUT!
OUT! GIVEN LBW! Garth strikes, and Heather's review cannot save her! It is a touch short on middle, and Heather swivels back looking to pull, but the ball sneaks past the bat and thuds into the back thigh pad. The appeal is immediate, and this time the finger goes up. UltraEdge confirms no bat, while Ball Tracking shows it is pitching outside off, striking in line and crashing into the stumps. The decision stands, and the Netherlands lose their second wicket for 17 runs on the board, chasing 220.

AERIAL BUT SAFE! Loopy and around off, turning away a bit, Heather Siegers walks forward to slog it across the line but gets an outside edge. A huge shout for lbw! Molineux fires in the arm ball around off, and it skids on after pitching. Heather goes down for the sweep but misses completely, wearing it on the right thigh. Australia appeal loudly and, with the umpire unmoved, opt for the review. UltraEdge confirms no bat, while Ball Tracking shows impact in line but only clipping the leg stump. It stays with the on-field call. That looked very close.

OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! There's the first one down. On a length, outside off, Phebe Molkenboer throws her bat at that, without moving her feet. NO BALL! Not for overstepping. While delivering the ball, Lucy Hamilton's left arm hit the bails at her end and dislodged the pair. Hence the no ball signal. Coming to the ball, Heather has another swing and a miss. Free Hit coming up!
Well, we definitely need to better our homework. We felt that Australia Women don't have any backup keeping options other than Phoebe Litchfield for Beth Mooney. But here we have Georgia Voll, who is donning the gloves for this match. Reminds us of all the years back when Michael Hussey had taken the gloves for Australian Men's side.
