Former India captain Mohammed Azharuddin feels a Kerala-based team in the Indian Premier League would help to give exposure to the aspiring cricketers of the state.
"Kerala should have an IPL team for providing exposure to aspiring cricketers into the Indian team from the state that had contributed players of eminence over the years," said Azharuddin, who was here for poll campaign.
Stating that he was not aware of political controversies surrounding the formation of IPL's Kochi team, Azharuddin said: "I am not in the know of things having been off the field away for long."
"Anyway it is good to have an IPL team for Kerala," he said.
The Congress MP from Moradabad refuted allegations that Youth Congress members were not given chances in the mainstream activities of the parent party.
"I think there is no truth in the allegations that youngsters are deprived of chances in the affairs of the Congress party ruling at the Centre," he said in reply to a query from the reporters.
