Key New Zealand batsman Jesse Ryder will miss an upcoming five-match one-day international series against India following a calf injury.
The left-hander picked up a calf strain in the second Test in Hyderabad and aggravated it further during the final game in Nagpur, where he batted with a runner.
"Ryder is flying back home and will not be available for the one-day series against India," team manager Dave Currie said after New Zealand were thrashed by an innings and 198 runs in the final Test to lose the series 1-0.
Ryder finished as the second-highest run-getter for New Zealand with 274 runs from five innings in the three-Test series.
The first one-dayer will be played in Guwahati on Nov 28 followed by matches in Jaipur (Dec 1), Vadodara (Dec 4), Bangalore (Dec 7) and Chennai (Dec 10).
