The official statement is out and it's a heartbreak for the fans as the quarterfinal match between India and Afghanistan has been abandoned due to rain in Nisshin. The conditions does not seem to improve and the match has been called off. With this result, India qualify for the semi-final of the tournament. 

Pakistan have advanced to the Asian Games semifinal without taking the field in their men's cricket quarterfinal match against Hong Kong as relentless rain played spoilsport, and the match has been abandoned without a ball being bowled at the Korogi Sports Park on Monday. With the washout, Pakistan progressed to the semi-finals by virtue of their higher ICC T20I ranking, while Hong Kong bowed out without getting an opportunity to take the field. Pakistan will next take on the winners of Tuesday's quarterfinal between Bangladesh and Malaysia.

And it is official now. The toss for the men's cricket quarterfinal match between India and Afghanistan has been delayed due to rain. It is currently raining heavily in Nisshin and players are in their respective dressing rooms. 

After the one off game against Japan in Sano on Tuesday when India were pushed to the limit by the hosts on a turning track, the Shreyas Iyer-led side has not had much to do. India have utilised the time exploring the sights and sounds of Japan. The players reached Nagoya from Tokyo via the iconic bullet train and expectedly enjoyed the journey.

A near-full-strength Indian team will be facing a wounded second-string Afghanistan side in the second quarterfinal of the cricket event. With the gold medal defence on the line, India have opted to send their first-choice T20I team for the continental showpiece, meaning some ODI regulars will miss the simultaneous ODI series against the West Indies at home, which began on Sunday.
